I have always thought that Aids has gotten way to much funding over all of

the many other conditions. There are many conditions including hepc that

could benefit from more research. I guess that the people with aids has a

much stronger lobby than we do.

Hi ,

I definately agree...... There is not enough awareness out there....

It will take a very important person real high up to get infected,

before we get any type of funding.... We are looked at like leppers.....

Maybe they will put us all on an island and forget us....... That would

be fun wth the great people we have out here... LOL.. ;o

I always wondered about that too. I wish MDA would share some of

their millions for research on liver, cancer, heart disease too. I

wonder how we could go about waking up the government on this issue

, I agree they've got a bigger slice of the pie.

I can't recall to quote stats, but there was no

comparison between the number of dollars/per victim

between hcv and hiv. Their plight is more visible, I

think partly because the disease acts more quickly

than hcv, so there are many more people struck down in

their youth where it seems that most of us are older.

I think (and hope) that the public is starting to

recognize the scope of this problem as more and more

of us are becoming diagnosed. I know my dr told me

that they are treating quite a few patients in our

area just in the past couple of years. -dz-

, I totally agree. I guess someone really important has to get

sick before they'll start looking at this disease and funding it

more. Making people more aware of it, know what I mean? Sad but true.

I think there is a tendency in this country to deny

the existance of a problem until it is impossible.

Then maybe they'll do something about it. I have read

that the VA is dragging it's feet dx hcv and admitting

responsibility for it. They try to blame it all on

drug abuse, when their practice of mass inoculation

spread the disease. The article claimed that they are

fighting it because they don't have enough money to

treat the number of vets they suspect are infected.

Sure - like the government not recognizing the Gulf War Syndrome after

chemicals and gas were dumped on the guys fighting for us. Our government

covers up so much and admits to nothing. I'd better not get going on this

subject.

Well, don't get me going either! I believe and have had

confirmation...that the government of the USA has the cure for Cancer

and AIDS! They're keeping it to themselves. Don't think I'm

crazy...think about it for a few minutes...what would they have to

gain by allowing the cures to surface? Nothing! What do they have to

gain by allowing them to be hidden, everything! Lynn :~(

Dennis,

Don't be too discouraged...The Military is doing something albeit in slow

motion. As of 16 June 1999 the military started offering a HCV screening

test to those members >35 who are leaving active duty...Of course it took my

Reserve unit 2 years to be informed of this change...in 30-40 years I expect

the Military will be more on top of the situation.......

It's all smoke and mirrors with them. It's probably a

good thing we don't know the half of what they've

pulled. -dz-

I searched for some mention of it on the net, but I wasn't able to find anything. It's hard to determine just what to search for, I either get 5000 hits or none. -dz- --- diane214@... wrote: > Terri, I wasn't aware that Kennedy Jr. has Hep > C...... Sounds good to me.

Boy do I have some catching up to do. I 'm on graveyards until we get some

of our equipment repaired. Logged on today and have nearly 200 messages to

read.

Hi DZ

That is how the VA denied my claim for disability. Although it is probably

true, since at that time I was inoculating myself far more often than they

were. They have made some improvements in treating Vets with hepc in the

last couple of years. Recently the nurse at the clinic I have to go to told

me that they were to take the pills out of the Rebetron packages and use

them with the Peg Interferon. She won't do this since it is only going to be

a month or two before they have the new Peg combo. It is a little expensive

to throw away all of the Interferon.
