Restless Legs and MTX

Well, my family Dr. today told me to stop taking the MTX, as it was causing

too many side effects. I tried it for 5 weeks, with no relief in the week

following taking it. I had migraines, major fatigue, nausea, diahhrea. So

I called my Rheumy and asked her to call me to discuss other meds. My dr.

would like to see me try Plaquinel(sp?) Said there are less side effects.

Anybody like to tell me about taking this drug?

As for the restless leg problem at night, he prescribed a different sleeping

pill for me, Clonazepam. He said the sleep clinics use this for people with

restless legs at night and is very good. So I will try this tonight.

Thanks everyone

Ontario

[Editor's Note: , as you know, everyone reacts differently to our

medications so I think you'll need to try Plaquenil to see if it works for you.

It is not fair to say that one drug has more side effects than another because

what sends one person to the hospital may cause no side effects in another

person. I took it as an anti-malarial when I lived in the Philippines and had

no side effects but it didn't help any of my PA symptoms. It is in the DMARD

class of drugs which is key to helping to stem the progression of the disease.

Some people experience an increase in psoriasis when taking the drug but this is

certainly not true for all. Let us know how it works for you. For many, it is

a good drug. Good luck with the Clonazepam for the RLS. If it doesn't help,

please give Requip a try as many people in the US seem to be doing very well on

it. Kathy F.]
