Guest guest
Hello - I was just wondering if I can get some help. Back in 2008 I had 2 ring rashes on my stomach. Thought it was ring worm - did nothing. Then the weird Lyme symptoms started. I am positive for lyme. My question is about my 3 yr old. He was 2 at the time and shortly after my infection - he developed fevers back to back for 4 months straight. Now that he is 3 - he complains of " black spots in his eyes " he has heart palpitations (7000 in one day - check with a holter) and no other irregularities with his heart. Now after 3 yrs of good speech - he stutters. He DOES not sleep through the night - tosses and turns. He has asthma, irregular heart beat and allergies. Could this be lyme? I never noticed a rash on him due to eczema. I am scared. Any thoughts?
Guest guest
He does not need to have had a rash to have Lymes. You need to test him " properly " for it. With a Lyme Literate Doctor that uses a Lyme Literate Lab like IGENEX in CA. Guest guest
yes indeed, it could be and probably is Lyme. Get his an IgeneX test stat! I am so sorry you are going through this, but as we did not diagnose my daughters until ages 12 and 11, I can tell you I wish we had known what we were seeing and dealt with it much sooner so that they could have had more of a childhood. Guest guest
It definitely could be Lyme. You can start with your primary care doctor. Many of them will start testing and treatment, and can be seen sooner than LLMDs. If they are dismissive or don't follow through, don't give up - seek another doctor to support you. You should at least consult with an LLMD: if your son has Lyme he has had it for a while, and it is unlikely that your PCP will feel comfortable providing adequate treatment. Guest guest
My daughter is 16 and she was diagnosed last November with Lyme and 3 co infections. She started showing symptoms at 6yrs when my husband pulled three ticks off of her. After 10 yrs of going to drs. s began having seizures last year and I heard about Lyme. Do not wait for more symptoms til u have her tested. If we only knew about this horrible disease earlier. She has a page on facebook fightforlaura. Its to educate others and give encouragement for her to continue to fight. Thank you, Libby Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T Re: [ ] Possible Lyme in 3 yr old??? It definitely could be Lyme. Guest guest
Sounds like it. My 5 year old daughter contracted lyme from me in utero. She had a very high fever at 2 and was diagnosed with Autism which was induced by the Lyme. She's been treated since 2 by the best pediatrician LLMD in the US and really is no longer autistic at all for the most part. No physical symptoms.. hers were all neurological/developmental mostly. Autism happens sometimes but developmental / cognitive problems are a typical symptom. Get him treated ASAP. Don't wait for a positive test but you need to see a LLMD. Guest guest
I agree-- sounds very likely that he has Lyme. I also passed it to my two sons in utero. Keep pursuing it. Best wishes. Guest guest
Thank you all for the posts. The pediatric infections disease dr that I saw Friday is saying that he does not believe it is Lyme. He did give me a req for a lyme blood drawl for the Western Blot and the Reflex. I am just concerned because he seems to be getting worse. Does anyone know a GOOD Lyme dr in Ohio? THANKS! > > Hello - I was just wondering if I can get some help. Back in 2008 I had 2 ring rashes on my stomach. Thought it was ring worm - did nothing. Then the weird Lyme symptoms started. Guest guest
We to saw a Infec. Disease doc, ours was Children's Hospital in Columbus, also one at Cleveland Clinic. Just to warn you they do not believe there is Lyme in Ohio. My son had been to every doc at Children's and Cleveland Clinic for almost 5 years and tons of docs, we didn’t get any help until we went to see Dr. J in Conn. My daughter tested positive (western blot) and even showing the infec. disease. doc at children's, he said the lab we used (Igenex) was know for positive results. I sent him the papers that show where Igenex is a Medicare approved lab which means they are inspected and have to meet very high standards. Yet my daughter had been tested once before and was neg. It wasn’t till after tx was over for several several months and she started getting sick again that she tested positive. We haven’t heard from him since. Regardless you must get him to a " lyme specialist " . We drive to Conn. and are sch to go the end of this month. If you need help with $ go to www.lymediseaseassociation.org, click on Grants and go to Lyme Aid for Kids. This was the only way we were able to afford to go see a doc. My children were so sick that we had to homeschool them. Our school even came after us legally because of the amount of school they missed.
