It hides in the bones where it is not accessible to chelation, so you have to chelate over a long calendar period even if it is only once a month or every 6 weeks. > > Thanks > > -- > Priscilla Andy Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment Hair Test Interpretation: Finding Hidden Toxicities Nourishing Hope for Autism: Nutrition Intervention for Healing Our Children Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD Quote
Guest guest Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 thanks Andy. What about chelating weekly? Would that bring about a quicker recovery? Weekly for a few months, then every so often for a long time. Mercury takes more frequent and intensive chelation. > > Priscilla Andy Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment Hair Test Interpretation: Finding Hidden Toxicities Nourishing Hope for Autism: Nutrition Intervention for Healing Our Children Biological Treatments for Autism and PDD Quote
Guest guest Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Andy, Would overall improvement be notable with ongoing chelation even before the 3-5 yrs time is up? Any long time side effect with use of dmsa for such long period? (assuming using weekly for 5 yrs). Thanks again. Guest guest Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Andy, We have been chelating my 8 yo son with 25mg DMSA for almost a year now. He is also receiving 25mg ALA for 2 months now. We chelate every 3 hours every weekend. We continue to see steady gains. Should we back off to everyother weekend or keep up at this pace. I obviously want to get all the metals out Asap, but also want my son's body to get some rest. What do you suggest? Thanks, Kelley Sent from my iPod On Jun 29, 2009, at 2:25 PM, " andrewhallcutler " <AndyCutler@...> wrote: > > Any idea roughly how long could one expect to take to have lead fully > chelated following AC protocol? 1yr, 2 or 3 or longer? 3-5 years. Guest guest Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I hope Andy comes back to this thread. After a hair test showed extremely high lead and copper in my son, I have tried to chelate every weekend and have completed about 40 rounds with DMSA. After about 20 rounds, with copper down in a normal range, I added ALA on the hunch that thimerosal-laden flu shots, my 8 amalgams, etc., have played a role in his autism. Now it sounds like this frequent use of DMSA was a poor approach for lead. (Is it merely ineffective, or actually harmful?) Should I chelate with only ALA most weekends for possible mercury, then add DMSA, say, 1 weekend per month to bring out the lead? Thanks a million, Ann > > Andy, > > > Should we back off to > everyother weekend or keep up at this pace. > > > Thanks, > Kelley > Quote

The issue is that lead comes out of bones at its own rate, and DMSA won't chelate from bones/teeth. Andy's prior posts on chelating lead: http://onibasu.com/wiki/Cutler_protocol#Treating_lead Jay Quote

(Is it merely ineffective, or actually harmful?) It's fine, it just wasn't clearing as much lead as you would hope. > Should I chelate with only ALA most weekends for possible mercury, then add DMSA, say, 1 weekend per month to bring out the lead? You can use DMSA if you want. There is no reason not to when lead is present, it just doesn't speed up the lead's coming out of the bones.
