Guest guest Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 -Not lead, just had blood lead done. None detected. but good suggestion. It's odd she started it only after starting the ace. Again..really weird and never seen it. I'll keep everyone posted as we are stopping the ACE to see if the stuttering stops. -- In , " eli8591 " <eli8591@...> wrote: > > Lead exposure comes to mind for me. elizabeth > > > > > > Andy, > > I have a 2 year old niece, never had any vaccines. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I have a friend whose NT 2 yr old started the same thing a few months ago. We were at the center where our sons receive therapy and we were talking with a speech/language therapist who we knew and she said that it isn't uncommon at this age as their brains start to " think in language " and they don't compeletely have the vocab to express everything yet. In a few weeks time, my friend's daughter's stuttering resolved on it's own, as she matured. Hope that is all this is, too. > > -Not lead, just had blood lead done. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I looked in several of my books. My son stuttered as well-at age 3- for us it ran in the family (briefly in preschool ages of relatives) and we chelated, did mb12 and super supplemented and it eventually went away. If we gave the wrong balance of CLO,fish oils, gla and vit E he got worse! I later read that children can get " developmental stuttering " and in Louise Bates Ames book " your two year old " she writes this: " This tends to be an age of exaggerated tensional outlets. Thumb sucking increases; stuttering may appear temporarily, especially with the very talkative child. " Jan- you said she is advanced in language, so maybe this is a two year old stress outlet. They go through a lot at that age. I still don't know whether my son then had " developmental stuttering " and it went away because he matured OR he was metal toxic and we fixed it...... I am reading tons of books on language and apraxia ...so if anything helpful comes up I will email you. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Thank you..this might help. She began preschool about the same time and her language is very advanced, most people think she is 3 years old. She talks a mile a minute about everything....so it's possible she is thinking faster than she's getting it out....and perhaps the stress of school, which is done this week anyway. > > > > > > > > Andy, > > > > I have a 2 year old niece, never had any vaccines. It does sound like it is related to the ACE. At my house, my #3 has " first word blocking " stuttering, especially if his yeast is high from the B12 he takes. He will screw up his face a bunch, and it will take major effort to get the first word out. Since almost everything helpful here tended to increase yeast, you might consider increasing her yeast protocol and see if that helps. Dana Quote
Guest guest Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Actually stuttering is a very normal part of language acquisition in many NT children. What happens is that they gain an understanding of vocabulary a a pretty rapid pace, more rapid than their ability to reproduce it. The result is that their mouths can't keep up with their brains, producing a temporary stutter. This may be a good sign that your child is gaining a bunch of new language, and just needs to " catch up " verbally. Guest guest Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 I stuttered as a small child. My mother tells the story, that she had to tell my older siblings to stop putting pressure on me to speak, and stop answering the questions for me, or finishing my sentences. It appears to have worked. http://www.dogtorj.com believes that stuttering is a form of a seizure. As are migraines that I dealt with for 30 yrs. Magnesium was the magic mineral to eliminate them. My daughter had a speech issue when she was a child, and as a teen experienced seizures. The connections are all quite interesting to me.
