Oh honey, that isn't trouble...that is cause for celebration!

Actually, call the OB/GYN and ask if you ought to be concerned... I was told

I could miss for a year before they would be concerned at all. But then, I

am not on the meds you are on.

So you think I should just go ahead with it tomorrow?

I am just so exhausted lately and that usually indicated an elevated liver

enzyme level.. though there could be other things. I've missed my period

for three months now and they are n't sure what is causing THAT either..

Connie, I'm 50, and so I had thought it was the Big " M " but lab work shows

that i'm not in menopause yet. I've never had trouble before at

all...ever.. with missing.... and i've been on metho for years..... maybe

it changed when the remicade was added.

I actually don't mind having periods at all.. they are just a part of me

and I know the estrogen protects me from stuff. I never have had cramps or

anything..just a little misty PMS's.... It will be so strange without

them.

I can't call an OB-Gyn cus my pcp is in control of all that and she says i

don't need an ob-gyn for menopause.. that she can do this stuff. I

disagree....

Hi Becki

It's good to hear that is doing so well. What joy that adds to life!

We were warned about the possibility of infection and 's pediatrician has made clear that can and will be seen any time we have a concern, so we're in good hands. But I appreciate the reminder.

is polyarticular and the methotrexate did a good job of keeping things in check for several years. But the last few years we have been on the roller coaster ride-- up the mtx for the joints then lower it due to elevated liver enzymes. Most of the joints remained stable even on the lowered dose of mtx, but not all of them, which is why the enbrel was added. I know a lot of poly kids end up on little or no methotrexate if the enbrel works its wonders, and I am hoping that will be the case for . She's a trooper, but one less injection would not bother her at all!

Take care,

Liz

Re: Liz

Hi Liz, GREAT NEWS!!!! is systemic and joined a 3 yr safety study for Enbrel back in September.Go figure in Nov we received our official letter saying Enbrel was available. We promiced the rheumy in cincy if they made our baby better we would stay the 3 full years. seemed to respond within 2 weeks,no more morning stiffness. The MTX controled everything but his left ankle, which has been drained and injected twice within 1 month. No more joint involvement and he may be off the steroids by early March. They say it doesn't work as well with systemic kids due to Interluken 6 being the main culprit,I guess has alot of TNF running around. got his first uncontrled infection after starting Enbrel. It started as a minor case of croup then post viral cough for a few weeks, then the croup again then the cough and after 6-7 weeks finally went away.Keep an eye out for prolonged infections but ENJOY the differance Enbrel makes. Hugs Becki and 4systemic

If you put gel in his hair just mist over his hair after you are done

styling it, and instead of combing though, let it dry naturally. It

should do the trick. :)

Thank you Liz,

Very very valuable information you just gave me. That is like telling

someone who can't stand spiders how to repel them. (spiders don't

really bug me I guess) Maybe if they were known to be in hair they

would. Thanks alot. What do you think of the paul mitchell tea tree

shampoo?

I actually didn't even know they made a tea tree shampoo. I try to

stick to natural shampoos and soaps. My skin is very sensitive and

the sls that is in shampoos to make them bubble and foam irritates my

skin. I'll have to get someone else to try it and see what they

think.

Tree,

Thank you for the input. I will certainly check in to this and also ask 's rheumatologist about it. One of the resons I'd like to get her off the methotrexate, though, is that we have played the yo-yo game with her dose for years. Up to get the joints in check, then down because of the liver, then up again because of the joints. But maybe keeping her on a very low dose will be the way to go.

We had to send the computer out to a specialist to get it cleaned up. The stuff that came up when we signed on to the internet was awful. There were words there that I had never heard before. And I certainly didn't want my kids to "improve" their vocabulary with those words!

Take care,

Liz

Liz

Hi Liz,

Glad you got your computer problems straightened out. I think this computer is like having another kid sometimes LOL That's so great that is doing so well on Embrel. But it concerned me to hear that you would eventually like her to be off of the methotrexate. For years I took methotrexate (like 14 ) then when Embrel was out I was one of the first to go on it and at that point They weren't using metho. with it...or at least it wasn't prescribed for me. I went into remission for the first time in my life, other than a pregnancy remission, but it only lasted for six weeks. apparently at that point my body had made antibodies to counteract the Embrel. I then went back on methotreaxte with the Embrel to slow the building of the antibodies but pretty much the damage was done and I then wound up with liver damage due to all the increases in methotrexate. I then spent november to march with no meds other than my thyroid medication to allow my liver to repair itself. Believe me I never want to ever do another winter without any medications again LOL So I'm not telling you what to do but please research metho. being given with the Embrel. I know it is so the metho can slow the immune system of producing these antibodies that will then make the Embrel, a great drug given the chance, unable to do its job.

I hope this will help you and ! Glad your back and take care !!!:):):)Tree:):):)

Kim,

I don't remember which hotels they were~~~ we left Texas nearly 5 years ago.

But there were several near the hospital that advertised doscount rates for

patients. Check with the hospital. They should have that information

somewhere.

I don't know too much about reactive arthritis, but I do think that, based

on the info you have shared, you are wise to seek another opinion. Please

let us know what you learn.

Hi Teri,

She did the same thing on the same message in another group I'm in. I am sorry if I offended her in anyway but this was a plea for help for someone with the same disease as all of us. I'm not worried about it just kinda' wonderin'.

I would love to be put on your joke list. We all need a laugh to keep our sanity.

Good Morning to you and everyone.

Hi Darlene,

Kista's doing fine. She had the procedure done a few years ago and hasn't

had any problems that I'm aware of since then. My mom's sister also had

that problem. It's so weird!

I know she drinks a lot of water and I know that it's certain types of

food that aggravate the problem but I'll mention to her about chewing

things up better and see if that helps.

Thank you!!!!

Re: (unknown)

Hi

Just stay consistent and do your LL breaths 5 to 6 days a week and drink

the water and you'll be very happy with the results. I don't normally

measure because I'm afraid of not measuring in the same spot each time.

So I'd rather go by the way my clothes are fitting me, my mirror, and the

compliments that I receive.

Keep breathing, it works!!!!

Love, Liz
