Guest guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 This was clearly a hypogonadism screening. My thoughts are that your free T is low which is causing your FSH, and possibly your LH, to elevate as your Hypothalamus and Pituitary try to tell your testicles to produce more Testosterone. One important thing to note is that LH pulses up and down very quickly (if I recall correctly the cycle for this is around 10 or 15 minutes I think.) Remember, that a single blood draw is a snapshot in time and your LH could have been at the bottom of the curve. I'm not saying it is I'm just saying it's possible. I think the cycle for FSH is much longer but I don't remember exactly off the top of my head. Given your high FSH I would definitely recommend testing FSH and LH again and see what shows up. Also, a Pituitary MRI may be in order, after confirming your blood work, to see if the Hypothalamus and Pituitary have normal structure. Bottom line? Your Free T is low and even though it's " normal " , as the docs would have you believe, it's still low and everyone reacts differently to low levels of T. For some a Free T of 60 would be fine and for other's it would cause severe hypogonadism symptoms. An experienced hypogonadism doctor understands this and would likely be willing to get to the bottom of your symptoms. Have you tested your thyroid hormones as well? TSH, Free T3 and/or Free T4 are also valuable blood markers for people with hypogonadism symptoms. > > Here are the results for my latest lab results....do you guys have any > comments? > > Range > > FSH - 10.2 1.6-8.0 mIU (high) > > LH - 6.3 1.5-9.3 mIU > > Prolactin - 8.1 2.0-18.0 ng/ml > > E2 - 39 <52 pg/ml > > Total T - 414 260-1000 ng/dl > > free T - 65.1 50-210 pg/mL > > > What do u guys think the high FSH can mean? Guest guest Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I take it your not on TRT and one thing that I see is your Estradol at 39 for me that makes me sick. Range for Estradiol for any age man should be 10 to 30 best at 20. At 39 I get bad ED and can't get it up taking Cialis. Also I get panic attacks and bad brain fog. Here is a link on getting Estradiol down can bring up T levels some 200 to 300 points. If you tried this and got your TT up to 614 your would or could be feeling dam good. http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm Phil xrougesquadronxx <xrougesquadronxx@...> wrote: Here are the results for my latest lab results....do you guys have any comments? Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 thanks for the reply. i've also noticed on HCG my sperm is much less than before when i ejaculate. also its a lot more jello-ton like. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 I take Maca 1/2 a tsp 2x's a day, Zinc. and L- Arginine. this helps here is a cut & paste on more. Phil Eat Right for Maximum Ejaculate Nutrition plays a great role in determining both the content and volume of your ejaculate. Naturally, a balanced diet is essential for good sexual health, but the vitamins, minerals and supplements listed below can have a dramatic effect on the volume of ejaculate your body produces. The supplement L-Arginine is an amino acid the body uses for a variety of important chemical and cellular processes. . .it is also believed to help you produce more volume of ejaculate. 500mg daily and (this is important...) 1,000mg 30-40 minutes prior to sexual activity. Like all natural supplements, you must be patient and allow your body's " storehouse " to build-up. This period takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending upon the individuals baseline health and metabolic rate. Zinc - One of the nutrients most critical for prostate health. The prostate needs 10 times more zinc than any other organ in the body. It is vital for preventing prostate problems. Unfortunately, 90% of men consume diets deficient in Zinc because most of our food is processed. Irving Bush and Associates at Chicago's Cook County Hospital tested the effectiveness of Zinc supplementation on men with prostate problems. All patients reported symptomatic improvement while almost 80% had palpable shrinkage of the prostate gland. RDA is 15 mg...we recommend 45 mg per day. Lycopene - is a natural anti-oxident that is prevalent in tomatoes. Recent studies show it to have roughly twice the power of Beta-Carotene and 10 times the strength of Vitamin E, when it comes to protecting and healing our bodies from the damage of free radicals which are the cancer precursors. In fact, free radicals are now considered to be one of the main causes of disease and aging. In a process known as oxidation, they accelerate the breakdown of our cell's structure, thereby damaging the DNA and weakening our immune system. A four year study at Harvard University set out to see whether the five major antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables would have any beneficial effect on prostate cancer. Of the five, only Lycopene was found to have a direct link. They found that of the 50,000 healthy males studied, those who ate at least 10 servings of tomatoes or tomato based products per week were 33% less likely to develop prostate complications than those who never ate them. Researchers concluded that the active antioxidant in tomatoes, Lycopene, significantly reduced the risk of prostate difficulties and improved its function. We recommend 10-12 servings of tomatoes or tomato based foods per week. Do not use or ingest if allergic. Beta-Sitosterol - is another nutrient that may benefit men with prostate problems. One double blind study of 100 men showed that Beta-Sitosterol taken over a six month period improved urine flow, reduced the size of the prostate and led to subjective feelings of improvement. Niacin - is important for many cellular processes. Supplementation with extra niacin in your diet will promote increased blood flow to all parts of your body. . .including the scrotum and testicles. xrougesquadronxx <xrougesquadronxx@...> wrote: thanks for the reply. i've also noticed on HCG my sperm is much less than before when i ejaculate. also its a lot more jello-ton like. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 What were ur lab results like that got you on HCG? how much are u using? T levels prior to treatment? My FSH is 7; LH is 5; Total T was 470; Estradiol 10; and all other iron tests and what not came in normal ranges. My IGF 1 was on the low side..but IGF BPIII is normal so no concern. MRI came back negative. I'm going to pursue HCG treatment with Endo to get T levels up. If it doesn't work, than I'll opt for TRT injection mode as gels didn't do it for me. even if MRI came back negative (no pit tumor) can u still have a HPTA disorder going on? a Stim test would certainly rule that out right? I would still like to see if my pit gland is working properly cuz low T levels like 470. even if 470 may be normal for some it's not for me. a month earlier i was feeling like crap and had some ED issues so i had a T test done and it came back at 339...i started feeling better and erections starting coming back...well that same day i had my levels taken per my endo appt and the results are the 470...even then the erections were there but not quite 100%. either way, my wife is convinced as well that my symptoms are all T related. it helps a lot as she can get the endo to treat me with less hesitation. she suggested TRT but i want to keep fertility (sperm count is 80mill today). im not very keen on the idea of freezing sperm as conception down the road will be difficult with IVF and what not. i think HCG is a good start for me...seeing as my sperm count is 80 mill i don't have full testicular failure. if hcg doesn't get me to produce more than i'll go after TRT...but hopefully get pregnant before than sorry for the long post...the board's a great help. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Jack, Yes, it is possible to have an normal MRI but have a disorder of the pituitary and/or hypothalamus. In fact I would imagine most men here who are secondary fall into that category, including myself. Some docs use a combination of TRT and HCG. Mark Quote
Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Jack if I were you get some Cialis 20 mgs and take it every 72 hrs. Get your wife pregnant first before doing any HCG or T. Taking HCG can shut down your pit from sending LH and FSH to your testis. Your Testis will keep working on HCG but the LH and FSH will stop. My Dr. gave me Cialis after I had bad ED and could not reach an orgasm do to to high E2. After getting my E2 down my ED got 80% better and the Cialis every 72 hrs has given me good morning wood and can have sex anytime with out waiting for a pill to work. Also before you start on HCG or T do have some sperm frozen. Just to be on the safe side. Phil Jack <rockin813@...> wrote: What were ur lab results like that got you on HCG? how much are u using? Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 thanks for the info phil. i always thought HCG would be used to 'help' fertility. similar to Clomid. either way, i would like to get pregnant first before treatment. we may be trying soon..but its hard to get pregnant when im still going thru this crap...u know fatigued, irratablity, low libido, frustration, etc. man..im just looking fwd to getting better! with my E2 being so low (without meds) im hoping it doesn't sky rocket with the addition to T to my body. i would like to see how life is with T levels in the 650-700 range...i don't think its that much to ask for. with that being said...do I have to take same amt of T as one who has original T levels in 200 range? i know there is no 'adding' T to current prod'n...so I guess i'll have to do the same regimen as a primary hypoG...if HCG alone doesn't work. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 Good question I feel if HCG dose not get your levels up high enough the best thing to do is go on Dr. 's treatment at www.allthingsmale.com this is what I did and you would start at 100 mgs of T doing this every week. But I would stay with doing HCG to keep your testis working so do 100 IU's everyday. Guest guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 None that I know of but HCG is dam hard to find there is a brand out there APP but does not work as good as Novarel. And doing Clomid is just taking a pill. HCG is a shot. I would try Clomid first and see if you don't have sides from it. After you stop HCG your LH and FSH should come back up.
