Guest guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 My total testosterone has been measured at 242. I am 48. My doc says that that is low-normal. From what I have studied, I don't think it is actually normal/preferred. My question is - why does my doc slam the door shut on T therapy, because of my elevated liver functions? I have a fatty liver from alcohol and/or chemicals that I have used for years. I built an airplane using epoxy for 11 1/2 years. It is my understanding that a fatty liver causes analysis to show " elevated liver functions " . After several months of alcohol abstinence, my liver functions were still elevated. I wish I had the numbers to back up what the doc told me indicated that my liver functions were elevated. Is it that T therapy will/would cause additional hardship on my already stressed liver? Unlike a lot of people, my main reason for wanting to try getting my T levels in the upper portion of normal, is that I want my brain to work like it used to and I have a problem with muscle retention/development. I have a problem with my shoulder (inpingement syndrome) that my physical therapist says would benefit from developing the muscles involved. I am anxious to receive any suggestions. Thanks. Quote
