As Brad mentioned, you can order your own blood work from http://www.healthcheckusa.com. There is a little-known secret: if you call the 800 number, you can order any test that LabCorp offers, and HealthCheck will fax it in to any local LabCorp collection site. So, you can get total T, estradiol, DHEA, SHBG, etc. The prices are market-rate instead of the inflated $ they charge the insurance companies. If you're having adrenal problems, you can order saliva tests from www.canaryclub.org without a doctor. Eugene Quote
Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 LEF has predetermined blood tests. I am interested in another blood test. I am on TRT but still feeling sluggish despite ttl Test of 800 and Free of 147 with E2 at 114. I suspect that my adrenal hormone, cortisol, could be low too. This could cause sluggishness. Also, I have long wondered why just Test might be low but not other hormones. Seems to me that we should be tested for all the hormones after finding one low. > > > > > > Hi, > > > > there was some discussion a while back on sites where you could order > > your own lab tests... but I lost the links/msgs/commentary. > > > > my doc has my next appt 3 months away and I want to check progress > > before then and keep an eye on e2 and total test... > > > > ttyl > > > > One possibility: > > http://www.healthcheckusa.com/ > > I haven't used them so I can't give any feedback on them. > > Brad > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Have a burning question? Guest guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 When you posted your E2 at 114 please post the units and ranges. If this test is in pg/ml you problem is high E2. For test on cortisol and Thyroid go to the Canary Club through the this link for testing. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/recommended-labwork/ Phil Softy <modestman3@...> wrote: LEF has predetermined blood tests. Guest guest Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 That link TO (//www.healthcheckusa.com) only gets me to the " WEB HEAD Group " and the site seems wholely unhealth related. > > > there was some discussion a while back on sites where you could order > > your own lab tests... but I lost the links/msgs/commentary. > > As Brad mentioned, you can order your own blood work from > http://www.healthcheckusa.com. Guest guest Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 The third time was the charm. I pasted the link in into the address line and it work that time and it got to the right site. > > > there was some discussion a while back on sites where you could order > > your own lab tests... but I lost the links/msgs/commentary. > > As Brad mentioned, you can order your own blood work from > http://www.healthcheckusa.com. Guest guest Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Are you sure about E2 of 114? It is on the high side of normal based on the range in the lab report. The reports says any amount below 130 is good. I have been taking 1mg of Arimidex per week on Monday. I am going to split the tablet and take half twice a week to see if that does anything. > > > > >LEF has predetermined blood tests. I am interested in another blood > >test. Guest guest Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 You should include the units with the number. I'll guess your lab is using SI units and the range per the textbook is in males older than 16 years is around 73 to 184 pmol/L depending on the lab. Understand many here are seeming their labs in conventional units which converts to 20 to 50 pg/mL. 117 pmol/L converts to 32 pg/mL in conventional units. The conversion factor from conventional to SI units is 3.67 and the other way it is (3.67)^-1 on my graphing TI calculator. > > > > > > > >LEF has predetermined blood tests. Guest guest Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 I took a second look at my labs and note that Total Estrogen was tested. I was at 114 pg/ml. The healthy range on the report is 130 or under. Also, everyone here is discussing the importance of E2 not Total Estrogen. I will ask for E2 in the future. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Adrenal Problems Rant Right now I am more concerned about feeling wiped out with 800 ng/dL Ttl Test, Free T of 137.2 pg/mL, and total Estrogen of 114 pg/mL. I suspect a tired Adrenal gland and plan to follow Phil's email in checking it out. I am tired of asking my doctor for test, meds, etc. I shouldn't have to continually ask. He is supposed to be the doctor. In a couple of months he has me set up for a DHEAS test. I am concerned that my DHEAS might be normal but my Cortisol could still be low. That's the way my testosterone worked. My brain signaled in the normal range but my testes simply did not produce much. > > You should include the units with the number. > I'll guess your lab is using SI units and > the range per the textbook is in males older than 16 years > is around 73 to 184 pmol/L depending on the lab. > Understand many here are seeming their labs in > conventional units which converts to 20 to 50 pg/mL. > 117 pmol/L converts to 32 pg/mL in conventional units. > The conversion factor from conventional to SI units is > 3.67 and the other way it is (3.67)^-1 on my graphing > TI calculator. Guest guest Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Did I tell you about taking your temps and charting them to see how your adrenals and thyroid are doing. This works dam good and no Dr. can say there is nothing wrong your in the normal range. Go to this link and read up on this and print out the chart and start takeing your temps. http://www.drrind.com/tempgraph.asp#directions I use this to take my temps. http://www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.com/Products/Thermometer.htm Phil Softy <modestman3@...> wrote: I took a second look at my labs and note that Total Estrogen was tested. Guest guest Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Hi, you'll definitely do better splitting your 1mg arimidex tab and spreading it out... it only last ~48 hours in your body regardless of dosage so a half every 3 days or so you'll drop pretty dramatically. I do a 1/3 or so every other day... about 1mg a week __________________________________________________ Quote

Guest guest Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 I looked up Adrenals function test in Nutritional Healing, 2nd edition. It says to take your blood pressure laying down and standing up. If you have a big drop upon standing up suspect hypoadreanlism. --------------------------------------------------------------------- > Adrenal Problems Rant > > Right now I am more concerned about feeling wiped out with 800 ng/dL > Ttl Test, Free T of 137.2 pg/mL, and total Estrogen of 114 pg/mL.
