Guest guest
I get these, although I had been relating them to the neck PA. When I was first diagnoised with PA, this area was my worse, by far. My Rhumy told me that it could be tension caused by the neck PA. Subject: [ ] Headache at base of skull?
Guest guest
I get them all the time but not sure they are the same. The muscles at the base of my skull have turned into knots which cause pain and lose of movement in turning my head. The only things that seem to helps are the hot tub and I bought a TENS unit from my physical therapist that seems to relive the pain for a short time. Dick > Anyone get these? Guest guest
> started getting these headaches at the base of my skull.. Hi there, I have had a couple of flares where I get a terrible headache that seems to come from the base of my skull. I mentioned it to my Rheumy and he told me that there are tendons in the neck that can get inflamed (just like other joints), the inflammation causing headaches. The headaches do not respond to the typical pain relievers like Tylenol, but my Rheumy gave me a prescription for Diflonac(?) that does help and after 2-3 doses the headaches disipate. Guest guest
It could be. It's definitely worth investigating. Short-term recommendation: see the doc and get one of those new memory foam pillows for support. My current flare manifested with intense headaches, facial numbness, and shooting pains in my arm. After nearly six months of treating or ruling out the other possibilities (heart attack, stroke, sinus infection, toothache, tooth grinding, migraines, whiplash, etc.) we discovered a spot in my cervical spine that resembled the swelling in my finger joints. The muscles in my neck, shoulders and skull were spasming, and the nearby nerves were sending out mixed signals (thus, the shooting pains and facial numbness). The doc prescribed a -2 inhibitor and physical therapy. A few weeks later I discovered my new rheumy, who started me on the current MTX regime + Vioxx. Makes a world of difference, except on rainy days. (!) Good luck. Take care, and feel better. - ===== -------------------------- Stein www.noblefusion.com/astein resistentialism (ri-zis-TEN-shul-iz-um) noun The theory that inanimate objects demonstrate hostile behavior against us.
