Does anyone worry about thinning skin in the genital area(or any other area)

when using cortisone products. How prevalent is thinning of the skin anyway?

Jon, I have the same problem to the point it would bleed.

I have been using either one of the following creams that really

helps. Haven't had problems in the last year.

Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP, 0.1% or Ultravate Cream, 0.05%

Good luck Dick

I'm not sure if thinning skin is even a concern, It was mentioned to

me by the Dermatologist, but only as an aside, not too much weight

was put on the fact.

though i seem to remember seeing some posts with concern.

At any rate, I figure the possibility of thinning skin is less

important than definite scales, itching, bleeding (not to mention pain,

yes pain)on a daily basis.

Stay Well,

I have to agree with in that who cares about the skin

thinning (which I have not seen any evidence of) when you are in

pain and bleeding. The products work and the end result is the

blisters, pain and all and all discomfort are gone when it is used.

When there is a flare up and you forget to use it at night before

you go to bed; well let me say you only forget it once. I think I

used those two products for about 6 years. Still have tubes

everywhere.

When I was taveling for the company I had some in my overnight bag,

I had it in my golf bag and in the car. It's one of those things

you don't leave home without. I need to remember to take it out of

my golf bag now that I'm not playing anymore.....

Thinning of the skin is the least of your worrys when you have it

there.

I noted that I haven't had any for awhile and thinking back I think

it stopped about a month after I started on Enbrel over a year ago.

Don't know if that has anything to do with not having it anymore or

not. I think I will ask my Rhumy about it next time. It's one of

those things you don't miss so you forget about asking those

questions when into the Rhumy. I am also on MTX but I was on that

long before Enbrel and it did nothing for that area. So maybe it is

the combination????? I will mention it to him next time in.
