Guest guest
Yep. I was on Voltaren about 15 years ago. It tore hell out of my stomach and gave me recurring ulcerating oesophagitis - an ulcer in the oesophagus (just above the stomach). I wouldn't recommend it. Greg. This is a " Your Mileage May Vary " thing. Unfortunately, Greg had a bad experience, but Voltaren can be a *very* effective NSAID for other people. All of the medications we take can affect us differently: for example, I can't tolerate sulfasalazine without my liver giong nuts, and yet sulfasalazine is a common DMARD and considered one of the safer, easier ones to take, and one which rarely affects the liver. My point is that we're all here sharing our personal experiences, which is the whole point of this group; but when it comes to medication issues, we have to remember that each person's experience will be totally different, and it's best to go with the advice of your doctor or your own medical research online, and *then* see how that drug affects you, rather than to let any one person's experience scare you off using a particular drug. I take Voltaren three times daily, at the highest dose possible, and I do take an additional med to protect my stomach (Pariet) because Voltaren is so strong; but Voltaren is the *only* NSAID that has worked for me. Naproxen came a close second but caused me to retain water like crazy, even on diuretics. So for me, Voltaren is a godsend. [Editor's Note: , thanks for reminding us of this important message. You've said it very well. I remember a person who used to be very active on this list who derided MTX in virtually every post - and yet she had never even tried it! What a shame it would be if anyone else let that person's extreme fears prevent them from trying a medicine that has helped tens of thousands of people to lead better lives. All medications carry risks and are bad for some people - just as all foods carry risks for those who might be allergic to them - and yet that doesn't mean that we should all starve ourselves to death and avoid all food just because some people might be allergic to peanuts or shellfish. It is your disease, your body and you have the obligation to educate yourself and in consultation with your doctor and your family, make decisions about the path you will take in your battle against this disease. Guest guest
HI, Sorry for the late reply. I tried this NSAID about 3 years ago. It was suppossed to be very strong and came with a lot of cautions. I took it for a short while (maybe 2-4 weeks) It ended up not doing anything positively or negatively for me. But, it was worth a try. I didn't suffer any stomach problems or other negative effects, it just wasn't doing any good either. Stay well,
