Guest guest
Hi everyone, I need some advice. I have been experiencing some pain under my right rib cage that sometimes radiates to the shoulder. It is sometimes so bad it stops me in my tracks. Other times it just hurts, breathing is painful. I am on celebrex 400 mgs a day and MTX 20 mgs a week. Could this be medication related. I have been on this meds for about 6 months and never had this before. I don't like to call the rhuemy everytime some hurts me, so I figured I would ask advice first. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks Pat
Guest guest
Pat, I had chest pains and swelling ankles when taking Vioxx. I also have PA in my rib cage and breatbone so I have pain in those areas. What you are describing sure sounds like it should be thoroughly checked by your doc. It could be so many things and none of them should be overlooked. If it is a side effect of your meds they could be changed. Please don't ignore these serious symptoms. Good Luck, Cheri :-))
Guest guest
Thank you Janice and everyone who responded. I was afraid that the ribcage pain might be related to my liver and the effects of meds. It saddens me to think that this has now spread to another joint. I have an appointment in a week and a half, do you think it is safe to wait until then to get it checked out with the Rheumy. I work in a school district and already set up the day off for then. I hate to loose any more time at work. Thanks again Pat
Guest guest
Hello again Pat.........I think you are fairly safe to leave it til next week when you see your rheumy.......however don't forget to let him/her know about the pain.......also if the pain changes, or there is numbness involved, or a feeling of pressure, I would have it checked out right away. Good Luck...... Janice
Guest guest
, Jakes curves are so low right now, I wouldnt be too worried about it. Please ask Dr. K., so you can put your mind at rest.....But honestly, I think you guys are in a great place. Lets chat soon, HRH rib cage We took Jake for his echo today, but it could not be done because he would not cooperate (please read crying, screaming, etc.). The appointment has been re-scheduled for next year! The thing that worries me is that when he was on the table dragging for deep breaths to accommodate his theatrics, the lowest rib on both sides was grossly misshapen and stuck out at awkward angles. The rest of the ribcabe expanded and contracted with each breath, and nothing looked out of the ordinary. Is this the dreaded ribcage/chestwell deformity? Should I e-mail Dr. Khoury? (I think I will now that I mention it.) We have an RVAD that isn't correcting. Do you think this deformity could be affecting that? What do you all think? Always worried, & Jake P.S. His spine looked beautiful out of brace -- knock on wood!!! Also wanted to mention that when brace comes off at night (for his bath), he scratches both sides kind of like a monkey and says, " I'm gritchy, Mommy. " Instead of itchy. I giggle every single time.
