I agree with Dan. Gordon. And remember that you brain still works

exceptionally well as does your speech. And with the call you received

concerning your

condition and the opportunity you have to represent others in your condition,

I think you are still a viable force to be reckoned with. Sometimes it is

hard to see the good/positive when we feel so awful, but I think we have to keep

our head up and keep looking for the positive. I believe everything happens

for a reason, though we don't often understand it at the time. (Okay, I'll get

off my sap box.) Gordon, you still have a lot to give and you constantly

amaze me and inspire me.

gordon,

peace be with you, as i read your post i wanted to cry.

to know that you, of all of us, is in so much pain to want

to give up, is heartbreaking. you have had more influence on

me in the years i have been reading these posts than anyone

else. the work you have done, the fight you have put up is

tremendous. at the end of my mother's life, it wasn't the

emphezema that took the fight out of her, it was the constant

pain of osteporosis. she knew she had only a few days left

because of a blood infection, and she did have a slight chance

of pulling thru, but she was tired of the pain, and lack of

quality of life. when she agreed to the morphine to put in

a coma and slowly go, it was so hard on us. but, to see her

body relax ( i am bawling right now) and know she was finally \

at peace was worth the pain of losing her. gordon, you have

put up such a great fight, and helped so many people you'll

never even meet. at the risk of stirring up the " great debate " ,

may God end your pain, and give you the reward you deserve.

i pray that your dr. will be able to help you when he returns.

please know that all of us, in our different ways are pulling

for you.

Just got a response from Gordon after mailing the care facility! I'm so

excited he is OK.

Dear ,

I received your email from the management of St 's as I am still here.

Thank you for thinking of me. Quite some time ago I unsubscribed from the

group as some new people seemed to have joined and were using it more as a

personal chat group among themselves and I thought there was no point in

remaining. I am still at St 's and being well looked after, with

further periods in hospital because of the spine. However, they can give me

good medical treatment here in the aged care home most times by confining me

to bed rest and giving prescribed medications. Even an old-fashioned

treatment helps me, as a carer now showers me every evening before bed with

the water as hot as possible, followed by a rub down with a commercial

sports linament and tucked up in bed. A further development is seizures

(not connected with the PA) where I fall unconscious, and have severe

headaches. Brain scans have shown some problems, including undetected minor

strokes which have done some damage. As a result of these seizures, I have

developed photophobia (extreme sensitivity to light) and wear special

glasses to compensate. It is being classed as late developed epilepsy and

treated as such and I have been re-aassesed in the home, up to high care. I

have withdrawn from my assistance to the Arthritis Foundation due to

deteriorating health. I am afraid I have not kept up with the latest

regarding PA, so perhaps I should re-subscribe.

Once again thank you and I did not realize how I was so regarded.

Wishing you and your family all the best for the holiday season.

You can contact me personally at gordo@....

Thank you,

Gordon
