I spent five days in the hospital back in the mid 80's due to aspartame poison. I just knew in my heart, when the Dr's could find nothing wrong (severe excruciating abdominal cramping), that it was the diet coke. I quit drinking it then, but my dear daughter moved out of the house in 2000 and she started drinking diet coke. A few years later, she was diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma. She knew the cause was the diet soda and her poor (fast food) eating habits. But rather than beat ourselves up, we concentrated on her getting better and we started informing others about aspartame consumption and the link to cancer. we figured we would use our energy in a positive manner and help others:) So , please do not beat yourself up and feel guilty over this! That is so self destructive hon, and you need that energy to help yourself and take care of yourself in order to help others:) {{HUGS}} Lynn

" We human creatures tend to feel guilt over things such as you wrote about, however, give it some more thought and you will realize you were 'suckered in' like most people in Westernized nations. With all that hype most people were lulled into believing it was harmless... like Fluoride. If you suspected it was harmful and still encouraged its use then the guilt is justified but you still must overcome it. A mistake is not something for which we should punish ourselves forever.
