Non Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL): A reader?s sister has just been diagnosed with NHL, a form of cancer. Does anyone know of any natural cures, she asks? A couple of readers share their own experiences with NHL. was diagnosed with aggressive NHL last year. She had R-CHOP chemotherapy, but supplemented it with herbal medicine from a phytotherapist. She also saw a nutritionist who tailored her diet and gave her supplements. ?This really helped support my immune system through it all and I'm in complete remission now. A friend who also had the same thing gave up the chemo after one course and treated herself totally by diet and herbs and is getting better, but I would be careful about using this as a ?cure? on its own,? says . nne, who was diagnosed with indolent B-cell NHL in 2000, also believes good nutrition helped her immensely. Plenty of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and antioxidants (such as maitake mushrooms), as advised by her doctor, contributed to her ?marvellous state of remission?. Another reader, a nutritionist, recommends Gerson therapy to treat NHL. There?s a wealth of information available on the Internet on Gerson therapy, but he highly recommends the book The Gerson Therapy: The Proven Nutritional Program for Cancer and Other Illnesses, by Charlotte Gerson and Morton (Kensington Publishing; Re-issue edition, 2001). Finally, Ann suggests checking out researcher Priestley's website, www.medicineandillness.com. ?He has found that many blood disorders and cancers are caused by toxic chemicals, radiation or certain medical drugs,? explains Ann. ?He advises sufferers of immune system damage (NHL etc.) to avoid as many of these as possible, such as fluoride and gloss paints.? It?s certainly worth a look, she says.
