Guest guest
Hi everyone, This looks like an active group with lots of great posts! I'm a bit overwhelmed after my first glance but thought I'd introduce myself. After several months of suffering severe low back pain, my dad (a long-time smoker) finally went to the hospital last week. He was diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell carcinoma and has been told his cancer is " treatable, but not curable. " Fortunately, I don't think Dad is ready to give up ... and neither am I! I suffered with the nebulous diagnoses of CFS and Fibromyalgia for several years before deciding to take charge of my own health. It didn't take long for me to realize that mainstream medicine had nothing to offer. After diagnosing my own Lyme Disease (I had to twist my doctor's arm to get her to test me!), I ended up under the care of one of the co-authors of The Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer. Two years later, I'm almost well ... and I'm a true convert when it comes to alternative therapies. Dad is undergoing radiation for the cancer in his spine right now, and the hospital docs are already talking about chemo. Dad hasn't decided about this yet, though he's certainly being " herded " in that direction. In the meantime, I'm doing my best to encourage my parents to keep an open mind and question, question, question! I think his best hope to survive is with alternative medicine, but I'm not sure what protocol would be right for him, should he decide to give it a go. I will be talking with the doctor who's been treating me (he's pretty much a cancer expert), but if my parents can't afford to see him, I'll need other ideas of places to go. We're in north central Texas and I don't think my folks would want to go very far for treatment. They'd be most likely to follow a protocol they could administer mostly at home. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd also like to talk with anyone who lives in our area who has been successful with alternatives. It might help my parents make the leap of faith if they knew others in the area who were going through the same thing. Well, that's all for now. Thanks in advance for the imput!
