Here is something I found on the causes and Lung Cancer doesn't seem to be

very high on the list, if at all. Have you had a second opinion?

There are many causes for this condition and not all are malignancy.

Best to get a second, even third opinion. Mistakes are made every day.

Causes:

Today, the most common etiology of SVCS is related to malignancy.

Prior to modern antibiotics, infectious causes including syphilis,

tuberculosis, and fungi occurred with almost equal frequency.

The most common cause of malignancy-related SVCS is bronchogenic CA, which

accounts for nearly 80% of cases.

Lymphoma accounts for approximately 15% of cases.

Other cases have a variety of causes, including infectious and

catheter-related etiologies. Increasingly, dialysis catheters and pacemaker

leads are

becoming associated with superior vena cava syndrome due to thrombosis.

Hi fdhere...sorry to read of all the difficulties you are having and

so far no one on this list has any helpful suggestions for you. I'd

like to suggest that you go to http://listserv.acor.org/ There you

can join the list for lung cancer and be in touch with many other

people in exactly the same situation as yourself. I'm sure they'll

be able to help you out. A friend of mine has cancer of the mouth

and even though he is not going through traditional medical

treatement, I joined the ACOR head neck cancer group and the people

have been very supportive and a wealth of information. Hopefully

this doesn't sound as though the folk here aren't supportive and

helpful, because they certainly are when it comes to alternative

therapies....but the acor groups are made up of people going through

exactly the same disease as you...many of them will have experienced

the same problems you have with rads and chemo. Hope this helps...K
