I was merely commenting on how difficult it is to persuade doctors with web links to wellness clinics, longevity clinics and the like. the doctors like to see specialists and studies for persuasion. they're predisposed to look down on these sort of sites. I was commenting only that its a shame some of our best information is on such sites and not more broadly available. It's hard enough to persuade doctors to read this stuff, and then to have to persuade them that the source is reputable too is just another burden handicapping our efforts. please don't take offense. None was intended.
Guest guest
Hi, Phil, I apologize if my comments made you feel " slammed " , your help is always appreciated. My own comments on aerobic exercise for full blown CFS are based on sad personal experience, confirmed by research. Aerobic exercise might be beneficial for hypogonadism-related fatigue, but I'm still scared by past exertion-caused crashes. Guest guest
Ditto on what Bruce said. His idea of forcing exercise doesn't work for people with more severe CFS, and actually can hurt them quite a bit. A lot of people with CFS have made their conditions much worse by forcing too much activity, including myself. There is a lot of research that shows that exercise can really harm people with CFS. Something to do with the immune system. His ideas also don't address hormonal problems like HYPOGONADISM (capitalized so that we know we are staying on topic that can be related to CFS. Any kind of exercise with a chronic illness be it hypogonadism, chronic fatigue, etc. has to start out extremely light and gradual. But chronic fatigue requires you to be extremely careful in this area. His idea of trying to force yourself to get 20 or 30 minutes a day can only be achieved through a partial remission and increasing exercise very gradually. If you are in a relapse, trying to get 20 to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise would probably kill people with more severe CFS or at least put them in the hosptial. Its taken me 6 months to get up to a 20 minute walk with the help of some medicine that I finally found that helps me somewhat. I had to start out walking 3 or 4 minutes with a cane. On some days I still have to use a cane to get around without collapsing. Blanket advice and mentioning of products are an automatic alarm bell for me. Wasn't meaning to slam you or him, Phil, and i apologize if you got that impression. Based on your experience I'm sure he is a great guy and has helped a lot of people. I actually thought you might be trying to point out some problems with his ideas regarding CFS. I'm sure his ideas and products help some people. We actually ordered his magazine recently. But a lot of people think they have the answer for CFS and other poorly understood conditions when they don't understand it very well. No one really understands it, and every case is different. He may or may not be one of them, but I've seen too many cases of people with chronic illness being taken advantage of by people who think they have the answer or simply have something to sell. For example, I had a guy who was certain that my CFS was caused by fillings in my teeth - I have no fillings. This is not to say all products are bad. Some have actually helped me. But none of them work for everybody or even a majority. So please don't stop posting advice that you think might be helpful. Your advice has already helped me a great deal. But i think all angles need to be considered, and I hope you won't take offense to that. Mark > Hi, Phil, > > I apologize if my comments made you feel " slammed " , your help > is always appreciated.
