Hi Tony

When you say " I feel my testosterone going back up slowly " , does

that mean your symptoms are improving due to your healthier

lifestyle? If that's the case, then keep doing what you're doing and

try to get a full T workup every few weeks to see if that's really

the case. That includes T, free T, estradiol, LH, FSH, Prolactin. If

you've already had these tests done, please post them so we can

interpret.

With a T level of 129, my gut is that your testicles aren't working

properly. This would mean you need some sort of TRT - Androgel,

injections, etc. But we don't know for sure until you get the

necessary tests and post them here. You should stop drinking

completely (easier said than done, I know), heavy drinking has a bad

effect on hormones.

Good Luck

Dave K.

Hi Tony,

Ouch.

On Candida, there's a paragraph below. A friend in the chronic fatigue group

mentioned it today. Worked for her when prescription stuff failed. Whatever

works... I think there's an online Candida group nearby.

I just have time for a quick note now. Hope to get back to you on the addl.

stuff.

Parting advice: If you try to think about these issues all together, you'll

probably fail. If you can break these issues down into separate pieces, you

can handle them. One at a time. One day at a time.

Candida, my Dr. introduced me to Oregano after a

particularly nasty yeast infestation (I've had it all,

mouth, vaginal, skin, etc...). Nothing would get rid

of the fungus on my stomach, until I finally combined

tea tree oil topically and oregano oil internally.

Even Nystatin wouldn't beat this thing. Anyway, the

oregano oil did the trick. It took awhile, but it

worked, and it's NONTOXIC!

Hi Tony and welcome I am very up on AA my dad was very bad. I am now 60 and

have had this low T for over 20 yrs. First thing you need to do in go on your

AndroGel like the Dr. told you to do. The big book is not your Dr. and it is

talking about ED a lot of us have are levels in the normal range and still have

ED. Low T will lower your libido. Your T levels are very low and your testis

are all ready not working. You seem to want to turn your life around and not

bring up your T levels will make it next to impossible. Did you ever have your

T checked before your binge for all you know it has been low for a long time and

this is why some men drink to feel better. The long term effects of not having

your levels up are bone loss, heart, prostrate, and feeling of Depression. We

have men here that have low T from to much iron so this may be what caused it.

I know that you E2 Estradiol levels could be very high and will need to be

brought down this could help you if you don't want

to go on TRT bring down E2 can raise your T levels. But don't just think you

levels are going up get blood tested at least every month until they are up. In

the links section here at the home page is full on links to info you need to go

and do some reading about this and see for your self what low T. can do to you.

I am going to give you some to read the first one is the most important one.

http://www.guideline.gov/summary/summary.aspx?doc_id=3524

http://www.smart-drugs.com/ias-estrogen.htm

http://www.lef.org/protocols/prtcl-130.shtml#too

Going on the AndroGel will not kill your testis they are not working but you can

try to get them to work by trying Hcg and have your Dr. check your HGH it can be

very low from drinking so much. We have men here that got the testis going

again after being on TRT for some time.

I am new to this group and looking for a " cure " . I have a complex

case. I hope someone can help me. Hopefully Father Time will sort

everything out with the help of this group.

I will give some history and hopefully someone can help.

I am 36 M.

About 20 months ago, I began a bad drinking binge, after being sober

for 6 years, I got so bad that a few months ago I was drinking about

a case of beer a day or about 6 40's of mault liquor. Thank God I am

on the wagon now for 3 weeks and back to AA!

I also have hereditary hemocmromatisis to which I am being treated

for with a phlebotomy (donation sized bag of blood) taken from me

every 3 months to control the iron overload, This was diagnosed in

Feb 2001.

In June of 2004 this year, my testosterone level was 230 (normal is

241-827). The Dr. put me on Androgel. He told me to quit drinking

because with the iron overload and the alcohol it is a one-two punch

against my testicles. I quit for a short time and began Androgel and

made myself an appointment with an endocrinologist. The

endocrinologist took me off Andro gel for a while to get a lab

result to where my testosterone would be with out Andro.

Now, the end of August, my testoerone had dropped to 129! I had no

libido and no erections.(much to the displeasure of my wife) The

endocrinologist suggested I resume Andro and had an MRI done on my

brain and pituitary. All is normal (except for a slight deviation

septum) . My other hormones are normal, just my testosterone.

My family Dr. says it was the drinking that damaged the testies.

Which brings me to 2 more added complications.

The excessive amount of alcohol I was consuming with all the sugars

in it caused an overgrowth of CANDIDA in my system. I told my family

Dr. that I had candida and he perscribed something for bacteria

called Levaquin. Now I have been sick with idopathic serum sickness

for 3 weeks from that. Its basically, my body made antibodies to

fight the foreigh protien (the antiboitic) and now its attacking the

soft tissues, specifially, nerves and tendons resulting in extreme

tendonitis. I went back to teh Dr. and insisted tht I had an

overgrowth of candida and was perscribed Diflucan. the Candida is

dying from the jump start with the diflucan, and absense of sugars

and complex carbs.

I have not resumed the Andro gel, I was told in AA that some men

come in the AA program completely impotent ( I am not) and 5 or 6

months later they are back to normal. This is in AA's " Big Book "

I have not resumed Andro gel despite the irritabiIity, depression,

because am concerned that the Androgel may shut down my own

testosterone factory. I am hoping that with more recovery and

recovery from the overgrowth of intestional/organ yeast (candida)

hopefully all with be back to normal.

I just completed a 2 day fast with non-clorinated water only. I was

an avid weight lifter before the levaquin screwed up my tendons.

Candida will lead to lower libido and even impotense.

I feel my testosterone going back up slowly. May I please have some

input? In teh groups expertise ( I know there are some very

intellignet people in here) Should I resume androgel?

I have been taking L-Carnitine and L-acetyl Canrnitine as an andro

replacement, as most of you know its not a phoramone jsut an amino.

Any insight? I eat an extrememy health diet, I have been tappering

off of my Klonopin, which I have taked for 11 years, I am down to

3/4 a mg at night only. I am trying my best, I just dont want to

shut down my testosterne machine, I want to kick start it.

I had super testosterone before, now very low in such a short time.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Group,

I have not had a tests for

1.Prolactin

2.Estradiol

3.HGH

But I just prepared a fax to my endocrinologist and requested that

these be added to my next test which in near the end of October. The

October tests sheduled are for testosterone and a PSA. (bear in mind

that these tests were taken after a serious period of heavy

drinking, little sleep and extreme stress and improper nutrition)

The PREvious tests taken august 25th were:

LH 2.0 (normal 1.5 - 9.3)

FSH 5.9 (Normal 0.7 - 18.1)

Thyroxine (T4) Free, Direct, S 1.10 ng/dl (Normal 0.61 - 1.76)

Testosterone, Serum 129 ng/dl (Normal 241 - 827) " I am very low

here "

THS 1.767 uIU/ml (Normal 0.35 - 5.50)

Cortisol 13.1 ug/dl (Normal 3.1 - 22.4)

I feel as if my testosterone is improving because I have quit

drinking and am undergoing liver cleansing, heavy metal detoxes and

yes, improved healthy lifestyle. I am getting more erections,

increased libido, less irritability. I sleep very well.

Can anyone give more insight as to the results of the above? And

please tell me what is Hcg? Someone replied that hcg can restart

your T factory (unless I misread). Can the Andro-gel restart the T-

factory?

I have read that 2 grams of L-carnatine with 2 grams of L-acytle

carnitine daily will raise T as Androgel will, but its expensive.

Thanks group, please reply.
