Re: Testosterone Replacement = Breast Development

If you contract your pec and feel the tissue you should be able to

distinguish muscle from fat. Is the fat distributed more or less

evenly over the pec or is it around the nipple?

To minimize further development you could reduce your t dosage, block

the receptors with a drug like Nolvadex (tamoxifen), or reduce the

estradiol levels with an aromatase inhibitor like Arimidex

(anastrozole) or Femara (letrozole) or Aromasin (exemestane).

The treatment for existing gyno is surgical removal. In the meantime,

if the growth is around the nipple, I might consider focusing on upper

chest development (inclines) in hopes of creating some appearance of

balance.

Were the brown gel caps Andriol?

Your problem is not due to testosterone replacement, but rather the

testosterone aromatizing to estrogen and estradiol. Have you had

your estradiol levels checked? You should get them checked right

away. High estradiol will cause the same problems that low t cause,

and in addition, can cause gynecomastia, which it sounds like you

have a case of. Adding armidex is one sure way to lower your

estradiol levels. I don't take it every day, (when I do, between 1/4

and 1/2 pill a day), but I can usually tell when my estradiol feels

a little high due to increased nipple sensitivity, and I take

arimidex those days. It controls the problem and has not let any

gynecomastia occur.

I have been on depo testosterone injections for some 33 years.

I also work out three times a week with weights to keep pretty good

muscle tone. I am new to this list and just learning about estrogen

inhibitors and will be discussing with my endo later this month.

But on to the problem: The area around my breasts was getting pretty

fatty even though my chest was well muscled, I suppose from the

injections all these years, so I went to a cosmetic surgeon and he

lipo sucked most of the fat out, and for good measure some around my

belly and sides. I like the effect. It cost about $6000 total but I

really don't care. A cocaine habit or a psychiatrist would be a

much more expensive habit. If I need to later I would not hesitate

to do it again!

Yes, they were Andriol, I couldn't remember the name before, the

shots were depo-testosterone, and all three have that unwanted side

effect, as well they cuase thickening of the blood, so I have to

drain a pint every three months
