Preventivelabs.com does not own testing facilities. You will go to a commercial lab such as LabCorp to get your tests done. www.yourlabtest.com uses at least some LabCorp facilities. Check the Internet and all the different dealers to find the best prices. Guest guest Posted August 7, 2004 Report Share Posted August 7, 2004 I just had blood work drawn that I ordered from Preventive Labs (www.preventivelabs.com) for the first time. is exactly correct, they contract with LabCorp (Lab Corporation of America), for the blood draw at least. The closest draw facility to me was the lab at Henry Mayo hospital in Santa Clarita, CA. Same lab as the doctors there use. Now, what raised one question for me was that one of the two working the lab wasn't familiar with the paperwork I had, so she had a little discussion with the other about what to do. I got the impression that all the blood they were drawing was going to be sent out someplace else for testing. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, though. The lab at the clinic I normally go to sends most of the hormone related work to an outside facility (Unilab, aka Quest Diagnostics). But for all I know, my blood's going to some guy in Florida's garage where he has a high school chemistry set for analysis. I had been using www.HealthcheckUSA.com for do it yourself lab work, but PL had better testosterone and thyroid panels on the website at better prices than Healthcheck, so I wanted to give them a try. That may not be fair to Healthcheck, as they do say that you can order anything you need by calling them, I'm just too busy during business hours to bother with that and tend to do my ordering on the web in off hours. Preventive Labs says they mail out your lab work two day mail the same day ordered (if by 3:00 PM Eastern time), but I ordered last Friday and hadn't received by one week later. I called them yesterday and got an answering machine, sent an email that wasn't answered, and then called back a couple of hours later. The guy who answered said the lady who mails out the orders had been on vacation and it was sent on Wednesday. I did receive it yesterday and no problems at the lab. With Healthcheck, the paperwork comes first class (three day mail) but always on time as promised. Healthcheck sends you to private doctor's offices though, not directly to a lab, and it's always a fight with the doctor's staff to get the blood drawn. They want diagnostic codes, a prescription, an appointment, etc. I'd still recommend them if they have a doctor nearby, but be prepared for maybe a little hassle. I'll post more on preventive labs after I get my results back. This got me thinking. Does anyone know of any test kits that pertain to the endocrine or thyroid system? If so, please tell. btw, i noticed this was in the states. If i have to i will drive there, but does anyone know of a similar offering that exists in canada? Thanks. He was unprofessional to say the least. But if the labs are accurate, who cares? As mentioned earlier, there were problems with getting the lab work as quickly as promised. I had the blood drawn at the lab at Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia, CA last Friday. Results are supposed to be received 48 to 72 hours later - after five days I called them this morning and was told they had no record of me having had the blood drawn yet. I told them when and where I'd had it done, and an hour later they had the results and faxed them to me. Problems with the fax lines sending all three pages lead to a second phone call. The guy I spoke with mentioned he noticed my Testosterone was very high. I said yeah, and the E2 as well. He said with my E2 levels I should be on Arimidex or something similar. He asked if I was on a therapy regimen, and I said yes. He asked with who, I told him my PCP physician and that my T was 115 before Androgel. He said with T-levels I had now he'd bet I felt really great. I said yeah, but weepy too. At that point he mentioned that preventivelabs.com was actually the ______* Rejuvenation Center in Florida and that they were the largest hormone replacement center in the country. I told him if I couldn't get my levels right with my current doc maybe I'd work with them. So that's my experience. I tend to have bad luck with things, so your mileage may vary.
