niacin for cholesterol??

A friend who goes to a CAM doctor, i.e. medical told her to take niacin

for her high cholesterol. I've never heard of this. She also told her

to take aspirin because the niacin will give her hot flashes, DUH. I do

know niacin will make you flush but hot flashes? And aspirin for it?

Someone straighten 'me' out here.
