Primary hypogonadism indicates testicular failure. If the diagnosis

is correct, that seriously limits the usefulness of Clomid and hcg as

treatments. You'll need some form of exogenous testosterone most

likely. When fertility is desired, you might be able to add hcg or

hcg plus hmg to your regimen.

Hi -

Do you have any test results you can post here? It would help us to

better advise. Most important - Total T, free T, LH, FSH, prolactin

and estradiol. If not, get these tests when you visit your endo.

Some docs will diagnose before getting all the facts.

First I would call the Endro and ask if they treat a lot of men for all kinds of

Hhpogonadism and it they test and traeat E2 Estradiol and use HCG. I have yet

to find a good Endro and hope you are not wasting your time. We would be able

to help you better if you posted you blood tests and ranges. It is hard to

believe you are Primary at your age. But if you are then most likely you will

not be able to make kids. In Primary your testis are not working. Read this

link and print it and give it to your Dr.

Hello all.

I could use your advice. I was diagnosed with primary hypogonadism

and am going for my first endo visit next week. I am in my late 20s

and have been on 10g of Androgel (from primary care doctor) for the

past few months. I still feel I don't have much energy or libido

and have heard that trying hCG would be another option especially

for fertility since I want kids later on.

What questions/proposals/other treatment drugs like Testim, hCG,

Clomid, etc. should I bring up for my endo visit next week.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

First question: Ask for a second opinion on whether the hypogonadism is

primary or secondary. Because:

If it's primary, your testicle cannot make testosterone. Stimulation with hCG or

Clomid will not work. Therapy is usually limited to testosterone replacement

such as AndroGel. I think primary hypogonadism may mean you're already

infertile, ask the endo about that.

If it's secondary, your testicles can make testosterone, but aren't making

enough. Stimulation with hCG or Clomid can boost T production. Fertility is

possible. You don't want to stay on AndroGel too long, because that can make

you infertile before too long.

Fertility can be confirmed by a semen analysis.

Other questions: Does he regularly treat men for hypogonadism? What does

he think about TRT in general? Does he believe in E2 management? What

does he think should be a full range of tests? How often should tests be

done?

Let us know it goes. If he thinks you're fertile but won't consider hCG or

Clomid. You'll probably need to find another doc. Same if his general

approach to treating hypogonasim is off.
