Guest guest
heh o man... 18 gauge?????? That is like a hose.... Get some 23 or even 25 gauge. The 18 is for pulling the test from the vial. Switch to a 21,23,25 gauge for injection. Cheers > What size needle should be used? We are using an 18 gauge needle. It > seems huge. But the cypionate is immersed in sesame seed oil (or some other oil) which is extremely thick. (This is to help the time release.) WHat I've read suggests drawing from the vial with an 18 and injecting with a 21. The thinner needles are too hard to draw with but to large to inject with - as you found out. The shots are highly variable. Target area, muscle tension, what's hit, shoot I'd almost say weather, affects it. Some days its a pin prick and other days I fell like I got shot and can barely walk. Personally I had to stop getting them in the rump and moved to the thigh. My butt would not up for days. And oddly with shots every two weeks, a shot in the other cheek would cause the last site to knot up again. One of the nurses who was best at it for me, would pinch and hold the site and inject into the pinched skin. Some how the pressure of the pinch masked some of the needle issues. Guest guest
Agreed! 18 guage = Ouch! I use 23 guage to pull out the liquid and to inject. Not too bad. > > What size needle should be used? Guest guest
Retrogrouch, I injected from 1999 - 2001. PCP's nurse taught me to withdraw with an 18 G Needle and then put on a 21 G for injection. Somewhere along the way, I think it was pharmacist that suggested, you could actually withdraw, inject with 21 or 23 G I've forgotten which. I tried that and it worked well for me. Guest guest
Yes, 23 guage does work nicely. It actually takes a while to get the 1 or 2 cc's into the needle from the bottle, you have to kind of pump the withdraw part, but it does work nicely and no need to worry about changing needles etc. > > > What size needle should be used?
