Guest guest
Just curious if your child experienced any behavior changes post chemo. My husband and I always comment that this isn't the same child we started with. It is hard to explain, but she seems hard to please / aggressive. It started in the hospital when she was in pain she would lash out at me and sometimes hit or pull my hair. A year and half later, she still is hard to handle. She is very defiant, and hits when she doesn't want to do something. She is a very "spirited" child, always telling me all done (sometimes I just look at her and she tells me "all done"). Some days I am so exhausted from putting her in "time-out." We are trying to figure out if this just a phase she is going through due to her age (4), or have others noticed a change in their child's behavior? The common theme you hear is that children with DS are so lovable, I wonder what happened to my child!!!!! sp
Guest guest
I have days like that with . I dont think there was much of a behavioral change due to the treatments, but due to where they are at developmentally. I have to remember that may be 6 but that developmentally he is only about 3.5, so if I think about that when I see the way he is acting his behavior all kind of makes sense. I know that probably didnt help a whole lot but maybe shed a little light on the subject?? Hugs > Just curious if your child experienced any behavior changes post chemo. Guest guest
Sorry to say that this is a common stage especially at the age of 4. Most of the people i've talked to that have a child with ds have gone thru this and yes at the age of 4. I've havent' noticed a behavioral change in post chemo. But if your child is still taking prednisone or Dexamathazone then that could be part of the behavior. These steroids are known to cause mood changes. Hope you have lots of patients for the next few years if she is anything like TIffany was at the age of 4 til about 10 lets just say she was VERY independent during those ages. Good luck hang in there they do grow out of it. from ette.
Guest guest
Ive seen typical kids on Dex and Pred and I must say that I was VERY glad that never had to take either of those.
