Yup..... Greg makes it to the end of his work day 3/4ths in a fog and half dazed with fatigue by the time his work day is over. He was making a huge mistake for awhile. He was so tired he was slamming high protein drinks and protein bars trying to find that energy..... big mistake.... its a wonder he could find his way home. Seems the common interpretation by most is geez he is getting lazy and irresponsible and even though inside he really does know how hard hes worked and his job is really physical and manly man stuff and he should be able to work hard and play just as hard end result his self esteem has plummeted into the toilet..... and to him to say hey Im tired is just inexcuseable. I just got on his brother hard core. Moms can lecture whoo hoo you better believe it when they are on a roll. For a while there on Friday nights they were toget off work and pack up and go 2 hours up to the mountains where his brother and his wife and kids live so they all could snowboard and ski all weekend. Well they'd get up there late as it takes Greg and a while at the end of the work week to get things going to get up there. His need to spend time with his bro and wife and have some family fun was writing checks his body couldn't cash. Which in turn meant that his brother and wife are up there thinking whats wrong those lazy bums get off your duffers and get up here. I told his brother they need to educate themselves about this and get off his rear before dealing with me requires more effort than they want to deal with!!! We have a rather complicated family Greg and his only brother ...... married sisters. Well I won't go into the rest of this...... but suffice it to say Gregs reputation for lazy due to the fatigue is superceding his ability to give a hoot at times. He catches it from all possible directions. I think his wife is starting to really see this now too. And maybe between the two of us we can hope to get some attitudes corrected. Sure hope so cause if Greg is depressed that would be why. Re: [ ] Hello I am at stage 2 with the damage..That we know for sure..I don't have much scarring as of yet though..Isn't that when cirrohis sets in??With my fatigue I try to explain it like this....When everyone else is still going strong at 5:00 I have quit at 1:00..That's the best way to explain it to some people..Seems these nit wits understand that better than plain english such as...I'm tired as hell!!!

Thank you . Greg is going to get through this also & the dragon will know he got his butt kicked. He has a loving mom, wife & the rest of the family there supporting him. That's half the battle.

Incorrect.

" The researchers looked at intestinal tissue from seven patients with

celiac disease and six healthy people. Patients with the disease had higher

levels of zonulin and zonulin antibodies. When the celiac disease patients

followed a gluten-free diet, their antibody levels returned to normal. The

researchers believe that zonulin makes the space between cells larger,

allowing gluten and other substances to pass through. Once these allergens

He may not be depressed it may be the hep. Its just

having a chronic disease can take a toll mentally. And

if he was that tired before diagnosis it was probably

the hep.

If you don't get educated about it, you'll never

understand. I find that this and the other group I'm

in have been a Godsend, because people understand.

They told him today the want to retest him in July his numbers on the enzymes are so mild that people with no Hep C have had worse one. So... it seems as if they think he is not really bad off. I am on an HMO and I didn't have too much trouble. It depends on the doctor. The HMO covered all my bloodwork and I paid a $20 copay for each prescription of the combo. I imagine HMO's can vary widely, but mine wasn't too bad. Once in a while I have trouble that my dr prescribes some medication and the HMO won't cover it unless I try some other med first. -dz-

You got that right! Even though I thought I had a very competent dr in the end. He took some time right at the beginning and we talked about this disease, the treatment, etc. but that was about it. Unfortunately the dr's don't seem to have the time to spend with individual patients, they come in, do their thing and they're out of there. Thank God for the internet. Though you have to be careful not to believe everything out here, at least you can believe other people who have been through this. -dz-

If he is seeing a general practitioner, I would request that he see a specialist. Either a hepatologist (sp?) or a gastroenterologist. -dz-

One thing I found out about HMO's If you are not happy with what your dr is telling you, you CAN request to be referred to a specialist and you have that right. My GP wasn't getting the point, although before I demanded to be referred to a specialist he referred me to one. -dz-

My dr told me something like that, too. He said "Well I guess you are just one of the lucky ones and your body can cope with this virus". Finally he sent me to a specialist and they got me on treatment. One thing though, if Greg's liver enzymes are in the normal range, they may not recommend treatment. -dz-

Within an HMO there are many dr's. I was unhappy with my former dr and I picked another one within the HMO and had much better results. I stuck with the old one over 10 years, but he finally ticked me off when he wouldn't listen to me about my concerns I may have hcv. -dz-

You know I'm starting to hear more and more about this disease, and Pamela is in the news a little more, maybe she will have a positive impact after all. They are talking a little bit more about what hcv is, how you can get it, and how many people they suspect have it, not knowing they do. -dz-

WILLIAM A WALTKE <kbwaltke@...> wrote:

This seems to be fairly common with those who have Hep C there are no real defining symptoms till one day your just low enough that you get to the doctors and some how you get diagnosed. Then people still don't see you as sick. I mostly try not to get on his case although its hard when I see him swimming in the river in egypt. Denile he he.... So one day I got on him a little bit and told him just how much I loved him and I was trying to understand but he needed to talk to me for me to be able to understand not only about Hep C but what this Hep C is like for him. He opened up a bit and I had no idea at all just how lousy hes felt for a very long time. Seems he spends a good deal of effort trying just to hide how lousy he feels. And how that has led to what I'd label depression over expectations placed on him and circumstances surrounding this virus and I was really shocked how hard its been on him. And still they have never ran his PCR or suggested a biopsy or anything to see where hes at. can tell you more what its like I guess to live with him. I just know that he needs to find some energy to even care enough to cope soon. I hope one day that there is more understanding not only about the virus itself but even the emotions of having this virus no one asked for. I know this mom loves her kidlet and I am trying very hard to try to help where I can without pushing to hard.
