Guest guest
> > Hi group, > I've been on LDN 4.5 mg for a little over 5 weeks now. I have Ulcerative Colitis and Ankylosing Spondylitis (Arthritis). I have been trying to stick with just the LDN and a strict diet but my U. C. keeps getting worse. I just recently had to drive with my wife from Ohio to Colorado (moving to Colorado) and had to eat out (but still tried to stick to my diet as much as possible). Ever since that road trip I have gotten worse and today I couldn't even make it to the bathroom in time which is very embarrassing. I decided I have to get back on the steroids (Entocort) and Asacol because I can't keep losing this much blood and I can't work without being able to control going to the bathroom. Do you think I should continue to take the LDN with the Steroids or should I stop the LDN for a while until I come out of this flare up? > > Thanks, > Jeff =============== Have you eliminated all sugar, gluten and dairy, soy and corn from your diet? Guest guest
Jeff, I am so sorry to hear about your current flare! I understand what you are going through, been there, done that! I unfortunately do not have any advice for you since I have only been on LDN (for Crohn's) for 22 days now, but I can tell you that of the 22 days I have only been " crohns-ish " for 2 days. Additionally, those 2 days have not been ANYWHERE near as bad as I was before going on LDN! Actually, I have not felt this good in a very, very long time! I see that was kind enough to offer some very good suggestions (which I will take note of). Thanks ! I wish you the best! Please keep in touch! Guest guest
Jeff, I am not really on a " specific " diet (yet). I did " notice " that of the 2 days that I was " crohns-ish " I ate things on those days that I don't " normally " eat, so I believe that I need to pay more attention to my diet. In that light, I have ordered (but have not read) a book suggested to me by a member (here) called " The New Eating Right for a Bad Gut : The Complete Nutritional Guide to Ileitis, Colitis, Crohn's Disease, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC. " I intend to read it very soon and follow it's direction because I know that proper diet is very important to our health. I am aware of the foods that irritate me and try my best to stay clear of them, although at times it is difficult. Please feel free to email me directly (pzellner@...) if you would like to communicate with me further and I will be happy to share with you. I hope that you will keep in touch! Thanks! Guest guest
,I already eliminate the foods you mentioned. As far as the supplements go, pretty much every one I've tried bothers my stomach and I make sure they are all natural without gluten, soy, sugar, etc.. I appreciate the info but right now I really need to just find out if I should continue on LDN with steroids. Thanks,Jefflow dose naltrexone From: b63powell@...Date: Tue, 1 Apr 2008 17:01:22 +0000Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Re: Please Help!! Guest guest
I just looked back through some previous e-mails and realized taking Steroids with LDN has already been discussed. Your pharmacist can call Coastal Compounding in Savannah, Georgia, USA and get the formula for making it. With your gut in the shape it's in you may not be absorbing the LDN properly. Your supplementation may need to be done transdermally to bypass the gut. You may need to find a physician to follow and help you do a fast. A fasting may be neccesary. Get adrenals checked via a saliva test and get tested for candida yeast, heavy metals, bacteria, mold and for lyme via a live blood analysis with a Bradford Variable Projection Microscope. Many chiropractors have these microscopes. Try to find what has caused this autoimmune response.
Guest guest
Jeff, I also have UC. It took a good 8 weeks on LDN before things got back to normal. I was on prednisone for a flare and for the first time...it did nothing!! I was still in agony when I finally put the screws to my Doc and made him prescribe LDN. I suffered through and slowly it stopped. It was strange...it would get a little better, regress then get a little better until one day, it just went away. I have had no trouble since. I also take lyadil (i think that's spelled correctly, it's the same as asocol only once a day with a better absorption rate) and I feel better that I've felt for years...hope this helps some...good luck. By the way....I eat anything that's not moving fast enough to get away and it doesn't seem to bother me. Although...hard alcohol can be a problem if used too frequently. Guest guest
Hi Jeff, I suggest as I usually do to all Crohnies and U.Cers: use Asacol together with LDN. It usually helps. When flareing: If the flare is too hard to handle; go for pred, then when tapering pred and only at 10 mg and less; u may use LDN and prednisone in a combo. Even stay for a longer time with pred. / or entocort as a maintanance dose. You may also include Asacol in that regimen. Ingrid [low dose naltrexone] Re: Please Help!!
