Donna I have to say if you bring up the word ridge you might be talking about

a condition known as Craniosynostosis that is premature fusion of skull

sutures. Has your doctor done xrays or CT scans to rule this out and have

you seen a peds neurosurgeon prior to getting the band?

Of course, every baby is different, however, if your baby has been diagnosed

with plagio and helmet/banding therapy has been recommended then the DOCband

should help correct the flatness, the ridge and the bossing. I don't mean to

say that it will 100% correct any and all problems, but so far most people

here have had good luck with whichever device they choose to use. Facial

asymetry and ear misalignment are a little harder to correct, but that to can

be improved with the DOC (or other band or helmet).

Could you tell us a little more about your situation? Have you seen a

neurosurgeon or other specialist? Have you had a 3-D CT or X-ray? Has your

ped been supportive? We like to know a little something about all our fellow

plagio parents! It helps us give better feedback :-) I'm glad you found us!

Hi Donna,

My daughter, , had a bad flat spot behind her right ear, and also

had pretty significant bossing of her right forehead. She got her DOC

band on Oct. 13 - she was a little over 5 months old at that time. She

wore it until this past Feb. 5. We got GREAT correction of her flat

spots (she actually had one on the other side too, which was a result of

our trying to resposition her), and pretty good correction of her facial

asymmetry. Her forehead is still slightly bossed, but nothing like it

was before.

's band fit over the top of her head to help correct, I think, the

bossing. As for the ridge above the flat spot, most likely the band

will cover the entire flat spot and the surrounding area, so the ridge

and the flat spot should both round out - assuming, of course, there's

no cranio involved. I agree with - if you haven't had x-rays

done, you might want to get those done just for peace of mind.

The folks at CT are WONDERFUL. They should be able to tell you what

correction to expect. Have you already consulted with them? Has your

son seen any other doctors?
