Guest guest Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Don't apologize for writing in detail! I appreciate you getting back to me on this. I'm very interested in this entire issue of viruses and autism because it is, IMO, not very well understood and the doctors who seem to be interested in it don't inspire a great deal of confidence in me. I would be very interested in knowing your son's viral levels when you get them tested again, and, more importantly, your take on what they are (what worked, etc). That's great news about your son's progress. Wonderful to hear. Thanks, Anita > > It takes a toll on the liver, kidney's, etc. to filter all the stuff out, not as heavy a toll as some of the prescriptions we've been given, but a toll nonetheless. Plus, as you're attacking this stuff ( not virus's) but definitely bacteria, candida albicans, etc. you get " die off " , so not only do you have the product, the bacteria, but now an elevated level of toxins as this stuff dies, it's too hard to give a blanket dose. What if as you say it's multiple virus's? So now, whereas for my son it's only Herpes 6, what if for your child it's Herpes 6, Epstein Barr and some latent measles from a vaccine, what works for my kid, might not be high enough a dose for your kid. So you're giving 3-4 drops, and it's just making your kid miserable, and you might think, well okay, this is just the virus responding. But what if you need 7-8 drops or 10- 15 drops. And whereas I dose the OLE intermittently, it aggravates yeast for us, what if you need to dose it 2 or 3 weeks and it cleans up all your kids' problems right away, but I need to keep doing the rotation as I have been, combined with a constant Monolaurin supplement in there and it's going to take me two or three years to boost my son's immune system enough to keep this virus in check. Because that's all we're doing here, boosting our kids' immune systems so that they can fight these things themselves. You don't want your kid miserable needlessly, so you have to narrow things down as best you can. At least that's just my opinion. It was either in 's book or on this list or both, at one point the 1/4 capsule introduction of No Fenol was equated to taking a 1/2 of an aspirin, just not enough to do the job. We happened to be one of those, and so after 2 days of 1/4 capsule No Fenol we went straight to a whole capsule of No Fenol, and things were much better. But other kids, you start out that high and you might end up with a mess. So most of us try to err on the low side, but what if your kid needs way more, or what if your kid needs way less. Just because these things are alternative, doesn't make them any less serious, most of us have better results with these things than prescriptions. Yes, you get a synergistic effect, not only with multiple virus's bacteria and yeast toxins, but also with metals our kids have been damaged with. It has shown up in a number of pieces of literature I've read that Mercury and Herpes 6 are a doozy combo, as the Herpes 6 likes to hide quite effectively behind the mercury. How many parents are aware of that? So you could have a parent who is following this thread, and they're chelating, whereas I am not doing it aggressively ( your body naturally does a constant chelate, as long as it has all the right stuff, not deficient in anything) and so this other parent is using the same stuff, and same dose and for the exact same problem, but say many rounds into the chelation, the mercury isn't there to that large a degree any longer, now the supplements are having a way stronger effect on the virus, because that mercury barrier isn't there any longer to hide the Herpes 6. All of a sudden you get this amped up response, do you stop the OLE and Monolaurin? Reduce it? Keep going because you're near the end in terms of a cure to this particular issue? It's dangerous, and I keep that in mind when I offer advice, and so while it may seem that parents aren't responding with advice, it could be that we don't know enough to feel comfortable to give advice. The more narrowed down you have it in terms of what particular issues your child has, the more concrete and helpful the advice usually is, and the larger a response you usually get. Although, even when we don't know what's going on, sometimes it is nice to get that encouragement. I wouldn't let Dr. Goldberg touch my son with a 10 foot pole, but I'm glad I went to him to get some testing done. I suspected either CMV or Herpes 6 for my son, and he was the only one I could have an intelligent conversation with regarding these virus's and he ordered the testing. It was a relief to know CMV, Epstein Barr, and other virus's weren't an issue, only Herpes 6. We go to Dr. Megson in terms of treatment, she has a much gentler method, and we're pretty happy right now. Some tests are a waste of money, but after 6 years at this, I'm always going after the underlying issue. To do that requires a great deal of research, some testing and lots of help. But we are a success story of sorts. My son is mainstreamed in school, right on target for his academics, and a joy to be around, made many friends, so gentle and good with his sister, no OCD, healthy, rides his bike standing up he loves to go so fast, and doing what he never did before 'incidental learning', not everything we teach him has to be broken down, or repeated or practiced many times. Now he's picking things up so fast I have the luxury of not really thinking about " okay, how do I explain this to ph, how do I break this down so he can do it, and not have a meltdown " . We don't have all the answers, but the ones we have are keys to many of his major issues, like OCD, echolalia, poor gross and fine motor skills, sleep disturbances, lethargic, looking out of the sides of his eyes, high tolerance to pain. None of these things are issues any longer, but we specifically tackled the Clostridia, Herpes 6, Malnourishment, Candida albicans, etc. Good luck to you, this has cost us more emotionally, physically, mentally and financially than we knew we had to give, but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat if I knew what we would get in return, this happy outgoing much healthier little boy. Of course, if I knew then what I know now, probably never would have had these issues to begin with, but I've already written a book here, and I apologize if this has bored or upset you. I think you are marvelous for doing as much as you have. Quote
