Guest guest
Nevermind! I didn't remember reading it on the Houstonni website but did find the answer there when I went back- OK, even after the meal. Guest guest
No problem. The idea of giving enzymes at the beginning of a meal is to maximize the amount of time they interact with food in the stomach for the most breakdown. Even giving them after meals is better than not at all. As for anyone wondering why some enzyme products say to take after meals, these are usually pancreatic enzymes (or a product with a mixture of pancreatic enzymes and microbial enzymes in it). Doctors may tell you that 'enzymes taken before meals are destroyed in the stomach and therefore worthless'...but they are thinking of the older, traditional pancreatic enzymes. Pancreatic enzymes generally rely on food to buffer them from stomach acid. But microbial enzymes, which most people here take, aren't affected by stomach acid in that way. .
