Guest guest Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I wish. My son is obsessed with weeds and keeps running away and I find him walking down the street looking for this one kind of weed. If I get him inside, he starts drawing the weeds with markers. When you said tape I thought oh no, you too! He was obsessed with masking tape about 6 months ago (and still really likes it). He was constantly begging for the stuff. My son has been having these obsessions since birth. It is so annoying. The whole world revolves around the obsession. I wish it would stop!! I feel your pain! > > > hi; > > My son is driving us crazy with his obssesions, to the point that he > has left the house and gone > > into the neighbor's house looking for the measuring tapes he is > obssesed with. Guest guest Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 My daughter is obsessed with a lot of things but the worse is the obsession with always going first. She will throw a tantrum if you walk first and scream until you walk back. We are working on the obsessions, which I have too. Today she got upset because she forgot to look both ways before crossing the street and after walking to the car she wanted to go back and start over. I reminded her that we needed to go to class and that her teacher would be happy if she was on time. She walked back a little but then gave in and got in the car. No real tantrum! -- In , anna buchiere <ala4me@...> wrote: > > > > --- dannenedrummond <dannenedrummond@...> > wrote: > > > I wish. Guest guest Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Hello, I would like to say a few words and send you on your way of solving your own problem because you know your child best. This women (Donna) has insight and I get over whelmed with each section of her web page and I have to read them one at a time - and ponder them ...this is what she says is your problem -sort of - http://www.donnawilliams.net/selfcalming.0.html? & L=0 1) find calming thing- walkman with Disney music and books work with my son. 2) research adrenals and how they work? Adrenaline is one of the 4 stress hormones- and there is the problem behind most of MY son behavior problems- Hormones- ( none seemed to work in my son) here is a start on the reading you will be doing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hormone Right now I am looking for an old fashion typewriter to give to my nonverbal 10 year old- Donnas story is so real to me if you have time read this. (http://www.donnawilliams.net/books.0.html? & L=0 ) And last but not least I personally think your children are bored and not challenge enough- they find these obsessions interesting and fulfilling, I see them leading to careers....I would go to the used books store and buy books on weeds and drafting....new books every week! ( get some today) Let the owners of book shop in your area know you will purchase these kinds of books. Well, as always My 2 cents Ann Quote

Guest guest Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 h, TD-LDN= transdermal low dose naltrexone. Mccandless is big into it. we get it from coastal compounding. helps with the immune system. my son had a VERY huge obssesion with toy cars- way more than what is typically considered normal-to the point that it consumed him and me. With LDN it has steadily declined-now weeks have passed and he doesn't talk about those obsessions. what has not gone away is his interest in real cars. but that is also way less than before. hth kay > > > > > > > > > hi; > > > > > > My son is driving us crazy with his obssesions, to the point > > that he > > > has left the house and gone > > > > > > into the neighbor's house looking for the measuring tapes he is > > > obssesed with. Guest guest Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 transdermal low dose naltrexone. Mccandless is big into it. For anything like this I would highly recommend taking magnesium levels way way up....I bet strong magnesium baths would help not only your kid but the whole family. Gil Quote
Guest guest Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 My son's obsessions were completely gone with strep treatment. We treated with Amoxicillin (although there are some natural products used to treat strep) and loaded up with anti-fungals and probiotics. He did wonderful and obsessions were gone. I do have to say though that his obsessions were not off the charts. __________________________________________________ Quote

Guest guest Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 See if you can use the obsessions for teaching: Help him plant some of the weeds in his own planter so he doesn't have to go in search of them, count them, make up songs about them, find out if they are used for anything or have been imitated by people (dandelions have many uses but are considered weeds by many, velcro was invented based on cockleburs or as we called them, " sticktights " ), how does it grow/scatter seeds?, write stories about them, find out what bugs or animals (if any) eat them, find out what other plants they are related to, etc. By the way, out of curiosity, what kind of weed? Remember, a rose is a weed in a cornfield and a cornstalk is a weed in a rose garden. S S > --- dannenedrummond <dannenedrummond@<wbr>...><br> > wrote:<br> > <br> > > I wish.
