Guest guest
Hi All, Yesterday we began a chelation round. My son was doing great going into the round. We started yesterday morning at our usual dose: 10 mgs DMSA, 13 mgs ALA, every three hours. For the beginning of the day he was fine. Towards the afternoon we saw better language, less repetive and more expansive than normal. He was doing some nice play. Then after the 5:00 dose, he said " feeling hotter and hotter. " I took his temp and it registered at 102.5, so I stopped chelation. This is a kid who hasn't run any kind of fever since I had him on Virastop and OLE months ago, and then the fevers were lower and very short lived. I put him in a tepid bath and tried to run without any ibuprofen as long as I could, but towards 8:30 pm it was clear he was in a lot of pain. He was screaming and screaming, hadn't eaten, hadn't pooped, and wasn't sleeping. He did remain pretty well hydrated. We broke down and gave him some ibuprofen at 9:00. He ate some dinner and then slept pretty well and for almost 12 hours. This morning he is looping on his phrases, including some old ones we hadn't seen for quite some time. Organic speech seems to be gone. I am trying to figure out what to do. I think a big contributing factor on this one was that I had started him 4 days ago on some Uva Ursi to combat a bacteria issue that I couldn't otherwise get on top of. I had planned to run it only for up to seven days, depending on what we were seeing. It seemed to be working. His poops went from green to brown, and became better textured. His language and recall was better. On the Uva Ursi we saw nothing bad except somewhat decreased appetite, though he was still eating fairly well, and lots of good. My gut tells me that we lost a good opportunity to chase down some virus. What do I do now? Do I try to chase it down? I would love to throw some Virastop at him, but the last few times I have tried to introduce it, he has complained of stomach aches. He is on Valtrex (has been for months) and a little bit of OLE. He is running a bit warmer than usual, but nothing too high (in the 99s). He pooped this morning and it almost looked normal. Sorry this is so rambling. Just trying to find out what others would do if faced with this. Anne
Guest guest
Yikes. After reading back through some other posts, it occured to me that maybe what we were seeing was die-off reaction. It is pretty clear we had a pretty bad bacterial infection. Does die off happen with bacteria as well as with yeast? Funny thing is that my son's tongue, which had been beautiful before all of this, is now looking a little yeasty. I gave him some GSE (just two drops) with no-phenol before considering this possibility, so we may be in for some more surprises here. I have not given the uva ursi this morning, though I am considering it. All suggestions/comments/etc invited. Anne > > Hi All, > > Yesterday we began a chelation round. Anne, I think I'd do nothing, or maybe, because I know that feeling of thinking " maybe if I just.... " I might consider bumping up the OLE, depending on his history with it. Thanks for writing that up. It does sound like you're really making progress. Nell

I was thinking after I hit send to my other answer that Dana was just talking about Virastop working on bacteria too, so maybe there's something going on there. (not my intentional vagueness, lol) Nell
