Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I don't think using Nordic Naturals has benefits that FAR outweigh any risk. We have to trust the quality, but I am a fan of the product. Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Either Pam's got her crack pipe out again, or maybe I do ;-) but I think what she is saying is that the benefits of omega 3, Vitamin A, and Vitamin D supplementation (3 things that most of our kids really, really need) far outweigh any possible risks, especially with a clean and reputable product like NN. Yes, I don't not agree with her ;-). Anita > > > > I am hoping to get some advice on whether or not it is a good idea > to give > > fish oil capsules while chelating? Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Ooops. Caught me with the pipe again? I typed an original, brilliant response and then made changes. I guess I didn't delete all the words I intended to delete. SOOOOOO, using a reputable product like Nordic Naturals is well worth it. You can apparently request the purity data, right? Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I agree. Nordic Naturals is a good product. We all need those Omega 3's. Our entire family takes these. Guest guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 This could be a possiblity if there is any mercury in the oil. Check the company for their testing. If you are still concerned you can use a flax oil for EFA's and supplement the A and D. But the EFA's and other vitamins in the oil are important. Whether you choose to use another product to get them is up to you. But they are needed. I personally was not comfortable with the fish oil myself and chose the organic flax oil. We supplement for calcium which has D in it already, and we use Vitamin A capsules. Making sure they are top quality as well. > > I am hoping to get some advice on whether or not it is a good idea to give > fish oil capsules while chelating? Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 It is my understanding that flax oil has to be converted by the body into available Omega 3's. Some of our children's bodies aren't efficient in doing this. A great book on this subject is " The Omega 3 Connection " by Dr. Stoll of Harvard. We saw him speak at the Boston DAN! Conference. Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Our child takes fish oils every 4 hours (orthomega), borage oil every 4 hours (thompson), and cod liver oil with meals, and he is chelating. Quote
Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Wow thats a lot of oil. Could you tell me any success this has shown? We are doing Cod liver (kirkmans) and Pro EFA (Nortic)but only a tsp a day. I would love to know if more would help Flo > > Our child takes fish oils every 4 hours (orthomega), borage oil every 4 hours (thompson), and cod liver oil with meals, and he is chelating. > > > > Quote
Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 I think the majority of us are inefficient at converting the ALA (not the chelator, but the Omega 3) in flax to EPA/DHA... just one of those things. I can imagine our kids are even more inefficient. I would not rely on flax seed oil to completely replace fish oil. They each have their own individual benefits, but are not entirely interchangeable (as far as I understand). Using both would be a plus. Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 , May I ask if a DAN doctor put you on this protocol, and if so, who? I am interested in adding more fish oil. We give 3 CLOs each day and use flax seed oil as well. We give 3 CLOs each day and > use flax seed oil as well. > > Thanks, Beth We don't have a dan, so we are going off of the advise on this list. We just recently upped the borage up that high, over the last few weeks. I wanted to ask the list's advise on that. For months, Borage has only been once a day at 1000 mg. Does anyone know if it is ok to give Borage 4x a day? A lot of people on this list give the dha/epa's four times a day. We have flaxseed oil, but they are huge and cold from being in the fridge, and child #1 won't take them in that form and I don't know of any form he would take them in, unless I separated them in with the pills each week and served them not refridgerated. It's the big, black, and cold combination that freaks him out about the flaxseed supplements. He won't take the liquid, and he won't take flax in the shake...so flax has been something we haven't done yet, but we would be doing flax along with all of these if he would take it, is the point I wanted to make. The RN at my healthfood store was a bit intrigued that we give our child so many different fish oils, but I have heard that a lot of people on the list are doing all of them. The CLO is important in it's own right, it is mentioned in the sucess of the pfeiffer protocol which I am still reading about, because it is a great source of vit a and d. I prefer Nordic Naturals CLO, but I can afford Now brand. I meant to call the NOW company and see if they guaranteed purity like the Nordic. The RN at my healthfood store says that fish oils are molecularly distilled to remove impurities. I hope that the cheaper CLO from NOW is ok, since it is distilled, but I feel like I need to check this out further. Has anyone already checked this out? Quote
Guest guest Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Yeah, I keep on getting told that I am giving a lot of fish oils. I would say things are going well. Does anyone think I am giving too much? I just posted our protecol on my Miraculous big gains thread. Quote
Guest guest Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 I do it now for my son. No problems -- he's making gains. Nordic Naturals is one of the best fish oils. Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Our son takes 4 teaspoons of Cod Liver Oil a day plus two packets Coromega. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared. " Eddie Rickenbacker, top US fighter ace, WWI Quote

And then there is my son, who does wonderfully well with flax oil, but I still can't give him any fish oil or CLO or he has problems. Dana Quote
