Guest guest
For us it was rough in the beginning but now my son basically sleeps through it. I have a medicine spoon that stands up straight. I put about 5ml of juice and his DMSA/ALA. I shake it good and stick in a straw. I go in his room, turn on his light, pick him up and put him on my lap. He's still asleep at this point. I kiss him a few times and say " time for some juice. " I put the straw in his mouth, he sips it and there is always a little left. I say " a little more " then pour the rest in his mouth. I lay him down, turn off the light and leave. In the beginning he woke up a little more and I'd have to lay with him for a few minutes but it got easier every round Kerrie In a message dated 4/26/2006 12:30:37 PM Eastern Daylight Time, schwarzbeatrix@... writes: we are cheliation soon, still need to get element test done. I don;t wake him up and they do it in their sleep after they get used to it. I open up the capsules, addit to small amount of juice/water mix, stroke his head and whisper time for medicine , touch the spout of a lidded cup to his lips, withdraw it (like you do with a bottle for a small baby) and then he teakes aopen a bit, sucks, turns over and never wakes up Regular DMSA stinks like bad egges - we use Kirkman which smells friuty and Sam likes the taste of Good luck, this is a great skill to pursue whether you chelate or not, stuff like Candex given at night or probio's that require an empty stomach - makes everything so much easier Mandi in UK _Treating Autism_ (http://www.treatingautism.com/)
Guest guest
We get the DMSA from kirmkans and it is fruity flavor. Doesn't taste bad at all (at least my son doesn't act like it tastes bad..I haven't personally tasted it becasue I have amalgams still). While he is sleeping, I mix the DMSA with a little juice...just enough to fill a syringe. I stick the syringe in his mouth and he just sucks it down without waking up. I remember hearing other moms say that before we started and I was a little skeptical. But, it works like a charm and he doesn't wake up. > > we are cheliation soon, still need to get element test done. We are > planning to use Andys protocol. How dod you do the night dosing? Guest guest
That never worked for us, so we have to actually wake him up. My husband does the 11:00, when my son is really sleepy, and it is easy. I do the 3:00am, and he takes it pretty well because he knows I will snuggle with him for the rest of the night, which he and I both love. Guest guest
Bea, You'll just have to see how your child responds to being aroused from a dead sleep. Most of the time, I can get my child to take his oral ALA with a sip of water and then he just falls back asleep ASAP. Rarely, for the early AM doses (4-5 AM), he has STAYED AWAKE for the day. Ugh. Never has my son gotten upset. We can all tell you our stories, but you'll just have to experience it yourself and work through any issues. We will certainly be happy to help you problem solve. My son cannot/will not drink in his sleep. I have not been able to use the syringe. I need to get him upright. Half the time he appears to be in a stupor. It seems to be harder to wake him at 11 PM than it is any other time during the night. Some parents choose transdermal chelators to avoid the night time waking issue completely. You just smear a cream on them while they are sleeping. Personally, I find the transdermal DMSA less effective than oral chelation, but it is an option if oral proves unsuccessful. Good luck! Guest guest
This is fine, you should refrigerate it if it's premixed. But if you are mixing it up fresh, then no fridge. You can also stick in a lunch pale with an ice pack by your bed if you wish. Jan > > When dosing at night while child is sleeping is the DMSA ok to be in a syringe with a little water?Or does it have to be refrigerated when mixed?I would like to keep it by the bedside table ready to go. > > Thnx.. >
