Guest guest
Has anyone had experience with vision therapy. My 6 year old son is a high functioning aspie but performing slightly below grade level. He has been evaluated by Herzberg, a developmental optometrist in Rosement, PA She diagnosed him with convergence insufficiency. This explains why he can't catch a ball and why he has trouble with close work (reading and writing). Tracking is also an issue so following text is difficult. He also has auditory processing issues and we were going to start the Fast Forward program but that is 100 min a day on the computer so the vision issues need to be addressed first. Anyone had any experience with Fast Forward? I am reading an excellent book right now by G.N. Getman called How To Develop Your Chil'd Intelligence. It explains the development of vision and how it affects reading, writing, movement, etc. It gives great things to do with your child at home to aid development. I am an OT and really learned a lot. My son has gross and fine motor delay and some sensory stuff, but no behavior issues, no meds. If anything he is too compliant. He also lacks in the social area but is getting better with age slowly. I hold my breath in social situations where he is with other kids, especially on the playground. Thanks for reading, Debbie Melamed
