Asperger Syndrome DIAGNOSTIC Scale ( ASDS ) scoring

I now have Conner's ASDS survey completed by his 4TH grade, current,

teacher. We are in private school - no school psychologist. Our

only " local " " insurance approved " psychologist does not return calls,

So given up there and do not think highly of her opinions.

So yes, I'm trying to avoid buying a scoring manual, can't find the

answer online, and do not want to WAIT to find another " professional "

to score/summarize this test/scale. Somehow you end up with an ASQ (

Asperger Syndrome Quotient) showing probability of AS in the child.

You add up all the " observed " characteristics to come up with a RAW

score in five subcategories. ( Language, Cognitive, Social,

Maladaptive, Sensory )

Then somehow convert to STANDARD scores and percentiles. The

STANDARD score can only go to 16, and then there is a graph showing

the equivalent STANDARD scores to the matching ASQ. This is were I'm

getting lost. My math skills have certainly declined. I took the

percentage " observed " from each category, multiplied by 16, and came

out with what I think may be the STANDARD score ?? " Scoring " this

way shows Conner's overall ( all subcategory STANDARD scores averaged

together) average STANDARD score is 9 = to a 95 ASQ putting him in

the " likely " category. This is per his teacher, and much higher than

what was observed in 2ND,3RD grades. In essence his behaviors-

quirkiness are much more noticeable in class this year.

My completion of an ASAD scored " my way " - gives Conner an average

STANDARD score of 14 = 120 ASQ placing him in the " very likely "

category.

Of course we have OTs telling us he's NOT AS, just a " behavior issue.

I guess that's why I'm pushing so hard to get a correct diagnosis

from many " opinions " . My son is not " bad " , and I feel he responds

differently because he perceives things differently than " NT " kids.

If he is truly AS, I would know how to work with him better, well

maybe.

I know long post, and hard to follow, but if anyone can help me

decifer these " scores " , it would be greatly appreciated.
