I am exploring the idea of helping to get a social skills summer camp for

next summer in Houston off the ground. I'm thinking about a multi-week, 3 -

4 hour a day format somewhere in the greater Houston area. If there are any

folks out there interested, please e-mail me privately. The first question

I was asked were how many people might be interested in this. Please e-mail

me privately with the age and sex of your child. Also please give me an

idea as to how verbal the child is: one word utterances, two word, etc.

Thanks,

Hello -

The social group my daughter (15yo) attends mostly discusses socially-related

topics such as learning to read body language, facial expressions, dating, etc.

They do some role-playing as part of their activities, but that's about the

extent of it.

She's made progress overall, she interacts w/adults very well.  Unfortunately

has not made any real friends w/her peers, only has acquaintances.  It's

something we continually work on.

Hello~

For those of you whose daughters are involved in social skills groups (middle

school and up,) can you tell me what kinds of activities they do there

specifically, and what kind of social progress you've seen as a direct result?

Have your daughters made any lasting friendships because of the groups?

Thanks. We've been invited to try one, and I'm curious.
