Guest guest
Are your kids in spec ed classes or are mainstream? Do they get taken out a certain amount of hours/day? Do they have an aide? The school my son goes to is not a level 2 assist. No self-contained classes. Only general ed. If they have an IEP---they are taken out. My son is taken out for reading--30 min, writing--30 min, speech and social---for I don't remember how long. There are aides in the classroom to help the kids---not just my son. His teacher is concerned about next year. Right now he is in all day- --2 days/week---kindergarten. Next year---all day, every day. I don't want him in a spec ed classroom with " handicapped " kids. He is smart---but alittle behind on reading/writing. (his sister is dyslexic and processing disorder). He loves math and does well. His problems are behavior, attention, impulsiveness, aggression. When in small group or one on one---he's FINE!!! Our school has NEVER had any ASD kids in it. They haven't a clue as what they are doing. They are going to get the other school that has a level 2 assist program to come and observe him. He may need to go to their school next year. I want him to get the services that he needs. How can I do that--if the school doesn't even know whats going on??? Holly --6yo Bipolar HFA Anxiety
