My daughter collects, coupons from store aisles, receipts of all kinds, lists

she makes and stones as well. She collects the tops of acorns as well. I could

go on, but those are the major ones! :)

Ok my daughter loves to collect things, like unique stones she finds,

or quarters from all the states, or unique and unusual thingies that

she and i might be able to use in craft projects someday, etc etc.

Sooo, what does your child like to collect???

(oh yeah, she loves to take apart things and put them back together. I

discovered this when allthe doorknobs were missing one day.)

Heehee, makes you want to go back there and get a live egg, just for him to

see hatch doesnt it? I'll wait to see how long it is before you end up doing

just that lol : )

ps: I know what a parent of an AS child is like , I am one! : )

Watch out for puzzles!! There will always be one piece missing, and GUESS

who will have hid it? ::grin::

Oh, I have a collector too! (My son is 10, by the way).

He likes rocks, LEGO pieces, wheels and other broken particles of

gadgets, coins, bottle caps... Let me just say, if he can hoarde it,

he will!

Objects often end up inside his sock drawer so there is little room

left for the clothes that should be there. LOL

Yesterday, we hooked up an old computer, but I didn't have time to

install anything so HE did! (I didn't even know that he knew how!)

Hi!

Max and I visited a farm recently, and they gave us a

dozen eggs to eat (not hatch). Well, Max has kept one

egg and keeps looking at it " to see if it's hatched

yet " . We tried to tell him that it's not going to, but

he's won't budge. So, he looks at the egg every five

minutes...he won't go to sleep at night because he

might " miss when it hatches " , and he's up first thing

talking about it!! AAAAHHHH!

my 2 yo son pulls all of the knobs off of his drawers too, only he hides them!

He also likes to hoarde his numbers and letters (we have lots of these toys bc

thats his " thing " ) and he lays them all out in order all going in a straight

line across the living room. It freaks my mom out, but I think its kind of

neat. Of all of the characteristics that he could end up with, it could be

worse than savant behaviors right? It's neat to hear about other peoples kids

funny little habits.

My son used to come home with lots of rocks and leaves in his pocket. I have him

put them all in a bucket outside before he goes into the house. He also thinks

all rocks, even pebbles fromt he street, are rare and loves to collect " rare "

things.

Well, I don't know if this qualifies, but aside from all his food

issues with the gags and the hightened sense of smell of what were

eating and the fact that he draws all day, my boy is obsessed with

smelling his darn feet!...It drives me crazy, he does it all the time,

We were getting fitted for his orthotics the other day, so he was

barefoot and he didn't even care that the guy was there watching him,

He was just in heaven sniffing those dogs of his.

My son has had what we call annual obsessions since he was two. They each last

approx. 1 year then he would drop them stone cold,. Any mention of them after

they are " old news " he just treats like its was something he might have had a

mild passing interest in- never mind that we lived in a world adjusted to what

ever theme or character he was obsessing over for a year. We've always tried to

use it to our advantage and pick out whatever educational aspects we could

(though this got pretty difficult with pinnocchio -the JTT version not Disney

he would get ahold of sharp edged tools and try to carve puppets out of

ANYTHING made of wood). His latest thing is Asian stuff movies, food, martial

arts- I guess i need to start learning japanese I know its coming- right now

I'm supposed to be teaching him how to use chopsticks (like I know). As far as

the bodily stuff- his thing was making " farking " noises when ever he got too

excited(this means putting your hand in

your arm pit and doing the flappy farting noise-he says its not farting-its

farking and that makes it ok-- it took him a few months to grow out of this

one.The list could go on and on- sometimes I just want to bury my head when his

little quirks call attention to him and other times I just want laugh and say

" yeah that's mine.Isn't he great?! "

Hi there!

I just had to smile remembering how I was forced to place

rocks in my AS's daughter backpack after our vacation. It was a real battle. I

did not want to pay for the extra weight in the airplane but at the end we have

to compromise for half ot the rock load. She is not into rocks right now (

she still loves them thought). She is into Second War World and Nutrition. The

good part is that her food quality intake has improved ( still no meat). there

was a time when she just ate hot pockets. I live one day at a time with

her, very difficult and challenging. I am sure many of you feel like climbing

the

Everest on a daily basis.

Take care

Ana

I know exacally what you are saying about yearly obsessions. The first

year of my sons life it was anything red. The second year it was

the Grouch which he dubbed " TRASH " . That was one of the only three words

that he could say. The next year brought about the Wiggles. Next it was

Monsters Inc. and anything disney. He especially loved the Mickey Mouse

and the house of Villians video. With the Monsters Inc. craze I will

never forget when we lost his Mr. Waternuse he cried for days. Since

then he has been attached to Star Wars.

Well my 6yr old son doesn't have just one thing he likes to collect

other than just a bunch of odd and ends mostly. He is also diabetic

so when his blood sugar is low he gets a apple juice box and has to

keep the little straw. When he isn't looking they get put in the

trash but he never knows. My whole book shelf is full of various

things he puts up in them, stuffed animals special toys and such.

He is just a pack rat of various things. We went to the dollar

store the other night and there was a pacifier in the parking lot.

He wanted to bring it home wash it and give it to his little brother

who is 2 1/2 yrs old. I told him, Trace was to big for a " binky " so

he still wanted to bring it home. It wasn't until I explained that

if we left it maybe someone with a baby found it and took it home

and washed it for their baby that he was okay with leaving it.
