Guest guest
Hello All when we planned to make a 20 hr. trip by car. we had the movies, snacks, few games. but we made stops and played outdoors. It was winter and cold, but the break was great. (good for the driver too) we also collected those little cups with each state name on it. they loved doing that. some people collect the little spoons with " state names " on it. we also had a frisbee, ball, jumprope for our little stops. Also a " coin book " for quarters. that kept them busy & couldn't wait to get to the next gas station for gas so they can check out the change. I tried to find things that kept them excited and couldn't wait to find out whats next at all the different gas stations. We were on a budget so these things were not expensive. " the gas was " LOL. At the dollar store they have books for travel. one of them was to mark off all the different states that are on the cars license plates. (for school age children). They also have CD's that tell stories and you can follow along with the book. FRYS sell's them. They have so many things for kids to do in addition to the gameboy type things. Hope you can use some of these idea's. they worked great for us and the trip was awesome. OH I did most of my driving at night on the first day. No traffic. I know some children don't like to travel at night, but maybe a favorite movie will help. safe traveling - Rose
