Guest guest
My 3 year old son (Autism Spectrum, severe Sensory Integration Dysfunction, migraines, leaky gut) recently went up to the Pfeiffer Treatment Center in Chicago for evaulation/treatment. We know that he has pretty bad leaky gut. We thought for sure he has yeast, but 2 stool analysis and microscopic blood inspections have both shown no yeast. Historically he has 5-7 bowel movements per day. When he goes on Primal Defense probiotic, stools drop to 1-2/day. I've challenged the Primal Defense by stopping it, and sure enough the very next day his BM's increase to the 5-7. He reacts very quickly to things. He has also been on AFP Peptizyde for a month with the thought that if we don't see improvements, then we will do the GF/CF diet (we are already CF for over a year). I have not seen any indications that Peptizyde is doing anything so we will most likely be starting the diet this week. This past week, he started on the supplement program prescribed by Pfeiffer. In addition to his Primal Defense, Peptizyde and Omega Oils (which we were already doing), he now takes Vit C, Vit E, Vit B6, B6 phosphate, Biotin, Methyl B12 cream, calcium/magnesium, molybdenum, magnesium glycinate, No Phenol, and Zinc. His BM's have increased even more than they were before. In the last few days, he has had 10/day, 5 or 6 another day, and had 8 today! I also noticed this morning he has a red ring around his anus. I'm new to this, so does anyone have any ideas if the increased bowel movements are to be expected? Also, I thought maybe the red ring is from too much Vit C? Guest guest
Hi-- wish I could get some of the too-frequent-bm's problem to rub off on my daughter--she's the opposite! ;-) FWIW, I have a friend whose dd is constipated and SID and she's now able to have a couple of bm's a day on the pfeiffer supp's, too. So I was not surprised to read that your child is now having more on them, too. I'm guessing it is the vitamin C, too. The red ring is not something I would worry about unless it persists for more than a few days. That is, it could be a temporary sensitivity to one of the supp's and/or yeast could be flaring up, but it may go away in a few days, so I would just watch it and then make adjustments if it doesn't change in a few days. You could try giving less C or stopping the C for a few days to see if the amount of bm's slows down a bit. W >> This past week, he started on the supplement program prescribed by > Pfeiffer. Guest guest
Hi Stacie, Did you see any tartaric acid on his tests? It is a byproduct of yeast . My sons mycology stated no yeast but he had levels of tartaric acid showing up so I started to treat him with candigone by Renew Life .I am seeing die off symptoms so I think we hit the nail on the head. B6 can feed yeast, so he might have a yeast problem now. Try increasing his probiotics, see if that helps. Biotin depletes magnesium, which is probably why you are giving extra magnesium. But depending on how much mg you give per day, that might be the problem. Vitamin C can also cause this problem. > also noticed this morning he has a red ring around his anus. This can be several things, including yeast. Did you add all those supplements separately? If not, you can remove all of them, then add them back one at a time, to figure out which one/s are causing the problem. Dana
