Guest guest
I gave my son 1/2 tablet of diflucan with his dinner last night - he woke up at 3 a.m. and has been vomiting since. Lots of undigested food. This might be die-off? > It might be die off. It also might be an intolerance to the Diflucan. Also, Diflucan is hard on the liver, did you have liver testing first?< No, we did no liver testing - lots of other stuff, but not liver. I did a little searching on Diflucan and it sounded easily enough tolerated - but the sites I looked at all seemed targeted to adults. > > > I think we'll have to back off the diflucan and stick with decreasing the sugar in his diet, using enzymes and maybe GSE or OoO - something gentler. What do you think? > GSE and OoO are not gentle, altho they might be gentler than Diflucan [i have never used Diflucan]. You can try giving activated charcoal about 30-45 minutes after the yeast killer, to absorb toxins. If that works, then it is die off. > > Good luck. > > Dana I looked for activated charcoal in the HFS yesterday and forgot to ask for it at the pharmacy. I guess my thinking with the GSE or OoO is that I could titrate it more easily - drop by drop, and give with No-Fenol. How long do you usually use the GSE or OoO - my sons BMs have been good pretty normal looking for a while now and not too smelly, but the one he had today was hideous according to DH (that sounds like die-off too doesn't it?) He also had more vomiting today and has been sleeping for the past two hours. I don't think I should give him the Diflucan again under these circumstances. Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.
Guest guest
I have a suggestion regarding a couple of good anti-fungal products, but first let me introduce myself and tell you why I'm here. I've spent part of the last couple of days reading DeFelice's book Enzymes for Autism and other Neurological Conditions. What a great book. Thank you, . I've been interested in enzyme therapy for the last three or so months. I don't have any children of my own, but I have a 14-1/2 year old Miniature Pinscher that has suffered from GI tract and pancreatic problems most of her life. As best as I can tell, the problems started after her second rabies shot when she was still a puppy. I've been looking for an awfully long time for ways to help her. A raw food diet certainly helped, as did one of the best probiotic products that I have ever tried: Primal Defense. Both of these made a noticeable improvement in her health and demeanor, but it wasn't until I stumbled upon something written to the Gallstones list that it occurred to me to try larger doses of digestive enzymes, and a proteolytic enzyme product called Vitalzym. It seems that I have stumbled upon another large piece of the puzzle for her, as she now looks and feels better at 14-1/2 than she did at the age of 6. We have gone through some somewhat awful detoxification episodes, but each week, she continues to get better and better. I'm very grateful. I was excited by what I saw happening to Roseanna, so I started reading more about enzymes and giving them to friends and family members. I have three nieces and two nephews who all show signs of having digestive, intestinal, and yeast overgrowth problems. Everyone who has taken them has been helped by them, including a 60-year-old friend of mine who has suffered from COPD for the last year, to the point where getting to the bathroom from the couch, which sits less than six feet away from the bathroom door, was an ordeal for him. He was not taking the digestive enzymes at the time; he was taking the Vitalzym. Once he started to improve with just the Vitalzym, and the more I learned about the importance of digestive enzymes, I suggested that he also begin to take those as well. Within a couple of days, he was down from five breathing treatments per day to two, and able to spend a couple of hours each day out working in his garden. He was also sleeping soundly through the night, with no coughing episodes or the need for a breathing treatment to keep him up. After four days, he was out working in his garden for four hours a day, and a large varicose vein that he had had on the back of his leg for years and years disappeared. After a week, he felt so much better that his wife threatened to hide the enzymes because he was running around doing so much that he decided he needed to enlist her aid, and started giving her a list of chores to do. ;> I was absolutely astonished by the rapidity of his improvement. I had hoped for some improvement, but could not hardly believe what was happening. I'm still waiting for some detox episode to happen, though. I am excited by the improvement in the quality of life of everyone that has taken the enzymes that I have given to them, and so I subscribed to the list in hopes that I could learn even more about them from your experiences so that I will be in a better position to help my nieces and nephews, my animals, and my friends. Wrt the yeast overgrowth/Candida problem, has anyone ever tried a product called Fungal Defense? It's made by a company called Garden of Life - the same company who makes Primal Defense. I did a search of the archives to see if the company or any of its products had been brought up alreadly on the list, but found no references. The ingredients of Fungal Defense are: Wild Oregano Concentrate Fungal Defense N-Zyme blend, which is comprised of protease and cellulase Olive leaf extract Poten-Zyme Garlic Juice Extract Ionic Fulvic Acid Mineral Blend HSO Priobiotic Blend, which is comprised of 14 or so different beneficial micro-organisms Poten-Zyme Yucca Juice Extract I have not yet tried this product, but what I did try when one of my 8-year-old nieces had the symptoms of having a Candida problem, i.e., inflammation of the vaginal mucosa, discharge, and intense itchiness, was to give her some of the Primal Defense. She had already been to a doctor some months before, who had prescribed a different probiotic product for her, but it had not seemed to help. I didn't know if Primal Defense would either, but I had read about it helping other people with their Candida problems, so we went ahead with it. Within just a couple of days, all of the symptomatology disappeared. She had had this problem for over a year, and within just a couple of days, all inflammation, discharge, and itchiness was just gone. It was my wish that she continue taking this product as she most definitely has symptology that warrants its use: she gags and throws up easily, is a picky eater, is emotionally very up or very down, has episodes where she becomes belligerent, excessively whiny, and cries easily, and the list goes on. However, I lost that battle. Once the uncomfortableness of the Candida went away, she refused to take any more Primal Defense, and her mother allowed her this choice. I like the Garden of Life products because they're made out of whole foods, herbs, and other foodstuffs, and they're organic. They're also put through a fermentation process that not only keeps the enzymes intact, but allows for a proliferation of the beneficial micro-organisms. Because of the fermentation process, the nutrients are already in a pre-digested state. They've been the only supplements, e.g., The Perfect Food, that my intestinally-challenged dog has ever been able to take. You can find out more about these products at: www.gardenoflifeusa.com You can get even more specific information on the ingredients that are used by clicking on the supplement facts link that is located beneath the picture of each product. I purchase mine from www.iherb.com. Iherb.com has the best prices on the internet, especially with the additional discounts that you get at check-out (be sure to look for them at the bottom of the page; they range anywhere from 4% to 20%), offers free shipping for orders over $60, and has great customer service. Again, I want to thank for the great book that she has written. I noticed last night that she has written another one, and it's already on its way from Amazon.com. It is generally recommended to do liver testing before starting Diflucan, because it can be hard on the liver. You might want to discuss this with the doctor. > I looked for activated charcoal in the HFS yesterday and forgot to > ask for it at the pharmacy. That is how I started. >> How long do you usually use the GSE or OoO - my sons BMs > have been good pretty normal looking for a while now and not too > smelly, but the one he had today was hideous according to DH (that > sounds like die-off too doesn't it?) Depends. With GSE, if I gave it when the yeast was gone, the bm would look like diluted cottage cheese, which for my son meant that the GSE had started a bad bacteria problem. He also had more vomiting today > and has been sleeping for the past two hours. I don't think I should > give him the Diflucan again under these circumstances. I agree with you. Guest guest
I was wrong - I totally forgot about the lipid profile and liver enzymes that were done. So, all that was normal. I haven't done any more yeast treatment - letting him get back to " normal " for him. --- > > No, we did no liver testing - lots of other stuff, but not liver.
