Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thought maybe it was time to do a little check in since we're new to the list and new to enzymes. A short background on Mikey: dx at 2.5 years old with HF autism, 1-2 word phrases, little stimming, a lot of scripting, no eye contact and little receptive language skills (at least that we could discern). We eliminated dairy a year ago with great results: less hyper, less tantrums, etc. We haven't been too faithful with gluten, mostly because Mikey won't eat anything and I didn't want to limit even more social experiences like lunch with his friends at daycare... I was fortunate enough to come upon 's book a month ago after one of my marathon internet research search nights. Figured why not - so I ordered AFP and started Mikey at the beginning of November with half-caps at each meal. Maybe a self-fulfilling prophesy or a Mom still hoping for that magic pill, but Mikey showed more eye contact and more single words the first week. I then ordered up ZP powder and increased the AFP to one cap 3X a day. Hyper was a nice word for what was happening. BUT though he was hyper, I still felt like his receptive skills were increasing. Now we are up to ZP 3X a day as well and his hyperactive self has calmed a bit. We are getting reports from preschool that he's having more good days (less tantrums and better transitioning). I'm very hopeful that this will continue. He is sleeping soundly through the night for the first time in his life and is now beginning to do things like sing songs with us rather than by himself. We also started Epsom Salt baths at the same time and we account some of this progress to those as well. I only have one vent - and that is that I feel like I'm feeding supplements to my kid all day (between multi, zinc, omega-3, enzymes, etc.) and it kind of gets to me. Part of me wonders if putting all of this stuff in his body might catch up with him later in life... Anyway, a big thanks to for her work and relentless posting along with Dana, , et al. You parents are an amazing group of people who inspire me everyday. Yours truly, Jenni

That's terrific news. > I only have one vent - and that is that I feel like I'm feeding > supplements to my kid all day (between multi, zinc, omega-3, > enzymes, etc.) and it kind of gets to me. Part of me wonders if > putting all of this stuff in his body might catch up with him later > in life... I share your concern. The way I look at it, I know his body chemistry is way out of whack at the moment. My hope is that by resolving this early in his life, we will be able to drop supplements one by one, with perhaps a few to remain possibly even his whole life. But to ease the burden on his body now is of utmost importance, and I would think it will " catch up with him " in a positive, rather than negative, way in the future. Congrats again on the great progess. > > Anyway, a big thanks to for her work and relentless posting > along with Dana, , et al. Guest guest
> > Ok just a quick update. 3 weeks in. Prety much all on board, no dramatic healing symptoms like the first week but I did have some constipation for a few days and green stool, which from what i have read is a good thing. The acne on my face has cleared up nicely but I still battle dark circles. All in good time. I am doing my first enema tomorrow. I have decided with this journey, its going to reshape my life. But I am also working to reshape my mind and spirit as well. +++Good for you Casey!! Few questions > > 1. Hunger has set in big time. I eat the three meals but I just get so hungry, I know it can take 4 months for my body to adjust. So at this point I do snack on coconut oil.(I LOVE IT! don't see why so many dislike it) Is it bad if I eat a lot of it, like as opposed to the 5 1/2 tablespoons be closer to 8 or 9tbsp? Anything else recommended at this point to snack on, I know snacking is not recommended but its tough. Also I eat about 3 or 4 cinnamon sticks a day, is that too many? +++Coconut oil is a better snack than many others, and it is readily digested too. If your body happens to get too much it automatically throws it off anyway. Cinnamon shouldn't be taken in larger amounts than you would use it as a spice and the stick form is harder to digest, so try to find something else instead. > > 2. I have been waking up with dry mouth at times, is this common? +++That can be caused by 3 things: 1) You've been breathing a lot through your mouth while sleeping, possibly because of blocked up nasal or sinus passages. 2) Our bodies detoxify more during the night, so toxins being released can cause a dry mouth. 3) Your body is stressed, maybe because of detoxing, so your body is running more on its fight/flight nervous system - often just doing deep breathing exercises increases the flow of saliva into the mouth. > > 3. I've read about all the oils that should not be ingested like seasame seed oil, but is it ok to use seasame seed oil topically on occasion? +++No, do not use any unnatural oils on your skin since the skin readily absorbs them like it does anything else that is applied to it. Only use natural oil I recommend, i.e. coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, or you can use good fats too like butter, lard. Before industrialization many people rubbed butter or lard into their skin. God Bless you too, Bee
