Guest guest
I am desperate for some help on the use of pro-biotics.... Background: 22 month old autitic son...GFCF, low-soy, low phenols about 3 months.. Supplements: DMG w/ folinic, SNT, CLO, Pro-EFA, Citramin II, Zinc, Glutathione cream and nebulizing 1x day, Saccharomyces Boulardi, Ther-biotic detox support from Klaire labs(all for about 2 1/2 months My son has loose stools for 22 months, his whole life. He doesn't eat enough fruit to have it from fiber. I thought it was from giving him flax seed oil, CLO, and Pro-Efa (tsp. of each in the morning...so I cut out the flax and CLO...but at the same time someone mentioned I may be doing something wrong with his pro-biotics...so I cout the Saccharomyces Boulardii to 1 capsule per day and the Klaire Labs Ther-Biotic Detox support to 2 capsules per day.. I began to see a little improvement.....for about 2 days.....my Dan Dr. says to go on the SCD diet primarily for stools and things we will see more improvements...she also is switching me from DMG to TMG and having me eliminate the Pro-Efa and use a little more CLO along with evening primrose oil. My real question here is what could be causing the loose stools here.....how am I really supposed to be using the pro-biotics? Are you supposed to continue taking the Sacch. B. along with the mixed strain of the pro-biotic??? Any ideas on how we should be using these 2 products would be wonderful..... Thanks so much for looking and taking the time to help.... If anyone has experience with the SCD...do you think it is really worth a try at least for stool i
Guest guest
You listed quite a few supplements as well as food eliminations. What have you seen in terms of positives or negatives? I take it he has continued with diarrhea before doing all this, during these interventions, and afterwards? When I hear of diarrhea, I think of the body trying to flush something undesirable out of the body. This could be due to a number of things. Is the therabiotic a probiotic? I would give more of the probiotics, maybe even 3 times a day. I gave Culturelle three times a day to my son with constipation problems and it helped (granted it was a different problem). I gave it in the morning with breakfast, midafternoon, and at bedtime. Maybe consider a different type of probiotic as well. Theralac gets good reviews. I have been happy with Florajen from my pharmacist. Enzymes can be very helpful in regulating stools. Consider that if you haven't already. SCD might help with stools. If he is eating something he doesn't tolerate, or if the gut has bacteria. Diarrhea can be caused by viruses too. Do you have any reason to suspect either of these? . My son never did tolerate any probiotics. If you saw some improvement by cutting the probiotics, try stopping them entirely for a few days, see if that helps. Guest guest
If I give my son 1 ProBio Gold (Kirkmans) his stools are perfect. If I give him 2, they turn to mush.
