Guest guest
My 13 year old son has been GFCF for 3 1/2 years. Over the past several days he has taken zyme prime, no fenol and AFP before eating a grilled cheese sandwich on wheat bread, a serving of ice cream and 3 tacos with cheese (one food each evening). Although he takes melatonin and a small dose of clonidine he has been awake until midnight 3 nights in a row (he usually goes to sleep around 10). Is this the food or the enzymes? This is the first time I have given him a full capsule of all three enzymes at the same time.
Guest guest
Caryn...I am just posting this reply to the group even though I sent it to your privately too. >>> Do you think the sleeping problems were created by the enzymes or by the foods? I see two things in your message. One is that doing this earlier in the day might help particularly if he is eating foods he isn't used to. If you decide to give these foods with enzymes again, just plan on a lunch or afternoon snack and see if that helps. If you do it night after night, the sleeping will likely re-adjust as he gets used to these foods again. If this is the first time at full doses, it could be some additional adjustment to higher levels of enzymes (cleaning the gut out). The second item is related to the first...he might have been so excited about the foods again, that kept him up...just the novelty of it. I know if I am looking forward to a particular conference or event (or a sale at mall, LOL) I can keep myself up a couple extra hours just because I am pepped up. So if you repeat these foods again and when they aren't so unique...or give them earlier in the day, that might help with this aspect as well. Isn't it cool how such little things can make the kids so happy?! >>>Do I need to use the Zyme Prime if I?m using the AFP? Yes. They are really for different foods. The Peptizyde excells at the proteins particularly for casein and gluten. It won't do anything for carbs or fats. The Zyme Prime is a broad-spectrum product for across the board food breakdowns. It does have some protease in it but not the robust targeted amount that Peptizyde has. If someone doesn't have a problem with casein/gluten/soy proteins, then they might want to skip this. The other thing that Peptizyde can function as is a strong protease product. Proteases can be taken between meals to help with immune system support and killing pathogens. Other strong protease products can do this too. Hope that helps. .

And if the ice cream contained corn syrup [most do], he did not tolerate that, even with enzymes. If you want to challenge things, first I would just give him the enzymes, without any foods that are known problems. This will let you know if he needs an adjustment period with the enzymes. Then, do something with ONLY milk, or ONLY wheat [whatever you want to introduce]. Something like put wheat flour into a cookie recipe. Or add a little milk to the recipe. That will tell you what his reaction is to each new thing. Dana
Guest guest
There's a simple solution: Go to GNC, they have cherry-flavored 1 mg Melatonin. They're chewable and my kids love them. Before I found out about it, I was only getting 3-4 hours ofsleep a day because my children would'nt sleep. If my 8 yr old daughter power-napped for 10 minutes, she could go for another 20 hours. Both of my cchildren love it. There are no side affects, and everyone gets restful sleep. Oh, I give my daughter (8) 2-3 of the 1 mg. Two weeks ago I started to reduce qluten and milk (not take away completely just start to do it slowly). He tends to wake up about 2 a.m. and have trouble falling asleep again. He says that noises bother him now and " he gets creepy " . We have let him come into our room when he wakes up to sleep on the floor. Of course we have a hard time getting him up for school the next morning. Any suggestions? Thanks H.
