(see # 2 below) Thank you all in advance for you help. I have a 7 year old son with Autism, I was hoping that someone could help me chose which Enzymes to use for him. Here is what I am already doing that is helping: Supra-Nu Thera by Kirkman labs 1 tsp a day (10 wks.) Gluten and Casein Free diet (6 wks.)(sleeps & comunicates now) I also tried DMG but didn't see any change after a month so I discontinued use. Here are the areas that need help: 1.) he seems to not feel the urge to urinate and still is not toilet trained although he seems to know what to do, he just isn't getting the signal and seems quite surprised when he wets. 2.) My sweet little step daughter likes to give him food she knows he shouldn't have by " accident " just to see him " stem " like crazy. I think enzymes would help make this not as fun for her. 3.) He has verbal stems that are more pronounced when he has gluten or casein, and for some reason RED dye #40. 4.) Under the stem category: he also rocks, scissor kicks his legs while lying on his stomach reading or playing, hand flaps, wiggles his fingers next to the corner of his eye, grinds his teeth, chews on toys or clothes. Also he is under weight and height at less then the 5% tile he's 42 pounds and 45 or so inches. Roughly the size of a 5 year old, and he is 7.7 years. So if someone had any of these symptoms and they were helped by a certain enzyme could you please let me know what one and where to buy it. Removing foods not tolerated, or starting enzymes, can help with this. Addressing yeast, if it is there, can also help with this. > 2.) Enzymes can help with this. Or remove all those foods from your house. Or provide her with a little stronger punishment/incentive not to do that. > 3.) Zinc deficiency for many kids. For my #3, this was when he was eating a food or supplement he did not tolerate, and when he had a yeast issue. Guest guest Posted November 8, 2004 Report Share Posted November 8, 2004 You could try writing a social story for your step daughter to help her learn why he is only given certain foods and read it to her a lot. Explain what she gets from him when he is doing well- communication, play, etc. Keep the story all positive (write the negatives in a positive way also-when he gets his food this happens). If you don't remove the offending foods from the house, make sure his foods are clearly marked and make sure you have a definate consequence when she gives him something that she knew she shouldn't. Make sure she isn't doing this as a way to get attention from others around her. She may have some warning signs she exhibits before she's going to give him an off-limits food so watch for those. Let her eat what he is eating. if there are treats you and DH cannot live without, lock them in your fire safe/ room- somewhere they cannot get them. I would say she needs some definite behavior modification. What is her father doing about this??? -GA ( I assume when you say sweet, you are being sarcastic? How old is she?) > 2.)
