Guest guest
No answers here.but a similar problem. My daughter has had irregular stools (not as frequent as they should be and very very loose - the kind that seep out of everything) since we SWITCHED enzymes. We switched from an Enzymedica broad spectrum one (when she took this her stools were totally normal and formed every day) to the HNI Afp Pep and ZP b/c we thought they would be better and b/c the AFP Pep would target GFCF issues (she is GFCF free). I have been trying to wait it out to see if it is just part of the adjustment period for her, but am planning to go shell out the $30 for a new bottle of the old enzyme (we are unfortunately out of it) today to see if giving one of those will make a difference. My suspicion has been that the AFP Pep is for some reason STOPPING her stools. And the only ingredient my old enzyme had a lot of that ZP doesn't is a lipase. My latest thought (and I am scrambling) is that my daughter simply needs more of the lipase. I will let you know what happens. Thig is I don't remember seeing anywhere or in 's book that AFP Pep is know to cause constipation. But I really think it is in our case. Update on my 3 y.o re: impaction/constipation I posted earlier in the week about having to use enemas to help my little guy. I started him back on enzymes (ZP, Pep, and NF) and he isn't soiling his diaper as much, but his abdomen is getting distended again. I am wondering if it might be the enzymes. I give him all the Houston Originals. I am thinking maybe I should try the SCD version. Is it possible that the rice bran in the enzymes can cause constipation/impaction? Thanks,
Guest guest
Josie, Where do you get the Enzymedica enzyme? Is is at the HFS or Vitamin Shoppe? I think the HNI enzymes are blocking up my son' gut too. Funny thing is I have 2 other kids on them and they are doing great. It just goes to show you every kid is different. Let me know where I can get the Enzymedica enzyme. You can try the SCD version and see if that helps. Another thing you can do is try each enzyme by itself, to determine which one/s might be causing the problem. Guest guest
Hi: I get it at my health food store (though only the one that is very well stocked - not all of them have it). I know you can also get it on line. The one we had success with was Lypo. Ingredients are very much the same as ZP - although w/fewer of some things and much MORE lipase. I'll let you know how my " experiment " goes. You can def compare ingredients of the 2 on the different HNI and Enzymedica websites. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is just a " lipase " issue for us. Will post my results in a couple of days. Good luck!
