Guest guest
I need a little encouragement to get going w/ these! I was thinking of starting w/ ZP since that's what seems to be recommended, but I kind of want to try the AFP Pep first. Do I start by using the chocolate wafers? I'd prefer he didn't eat a chocolate treat several times a day. Maybe just do the wafers a couple times and put them in his drink the other times? Also, how do you measure those capsules? Is it just guessing? Does the powder spill all over when you pull the capsules apart? These are silly questions, I know, I just need some hand holding I think! Guest guest
Hi - we just started enzymes a week ago with our 10 year old ADHD son to see if it might help. I posted a similar question and if you go to message 67607 you can read one response I got. We started with the Zyme Prime first because it sounded like there were fewer side effects with the Peptizyde if you do Zyme Prime first or at least at the same time - although I'm just going by what I read. This first week we just did 1/2 capsule at each meal and stirred it in a small spoonful of yogurt - worked great. At school he just uses the capsules (I sent some only 1/2 full). Two days ago we added a full capsule at supper and probably tomorrow will go to a full capsule twice a day. I " m not sure if I'll go to a full at breakfast or not - just because it doesn't seem to be a very big meal... Next weekend we will very slowly start adding the peptizyde. I think I am maybe overly cautious because he has had such bad reactions to any of the meds we have tried. hope this helps and good luck. Sue > I need a little encouragement to get going w/ these! Guest guest
PS - I forgot to mention that I was quite surprised when I opened the first capsule - I kind of had to squish the capsule to get the powder out and then at the end - I have actually been using a toothpick to get the enzyme powder out of the very tips. I have just been guessing as to what half was...it didn't sound from anything that I read that it had to be exact.... If we keep going with this - I have thought I might just order the powder itself for at home and then the capsules for at school - easier that way since he eats school lunch ... like I said before - this is all new to me too - but I have found some great answers here...Sue > I need a little encouragement to get going w/ these! Guest guest
You can try the AFP first, just start out slowly as recommended in the dosing sheet. You don't have to start with ZP first. Start with what is most likely to address the issues you are concerned with. I don't like to give my child a lot of chocolate either, and I recently heard a pediatric gastroenterologist mention that some children cannot tolerate chocolate. You could experiment with putting the enzymes in chocolate sometimes, or drinks, a bit of frosting, no-bake cookies, peanutbutter, jam, etc. I sometimes give my son half a capsule by slowly twisting it open and letting what I think is half the contents spill out into his drink mix. Then I screw the capsule back together. > I need a little encouragement to get going w/ these!
