Guest guest
Eileen, Be prepared for an adjustment period to the enzymes. We had this with my daughter and we just weathered it. After two or three weeks, she settled down. When she was younger she didn't tolerate SSRIs very well either. We also tried Ritalin and several other of the same type drugs. We also tried secretin, but really didn't see much. Supplements never did much, some made her more hyper. We tried IV Glutathione and it seemed to help. We may do that again. Glyconutrients were a disaster. And a couple of rounds of anti-viral medications didn't do much. I think we need to get her gut healthy before anything much was going to help. I finally took her off everything and started from scratch. We tried a GF/CF diet for about a year, but it was so hard because she was older. We did get to add dairy back after a sensitivity test because it didn't who up as a problem. However, a bunch of other things did show up, and after a while it was hard to figure out what to feed her. We are completely off any diet since starting enzymes and really aren't having any huge setbacks. In fact we are seeing some good things. We have had some tantrums recently, but they are different from what we were having. Now I know what they are about because with some prompting, my daughter gives me a pretty good idea. The upsets are now about something not going her way and she is just plain mad instead of being overwhelmed by a sensory thing. Or they are about her wanting to let go of something in her routine, like watching a certain thing on television, and she just can't quite do it. Again, it makes her mad or sad. We have even been able to head off one tantrum by talking about not having to do watch things on TV that you don't want to watch. I even set a timer and told her she could be upset until it went off and it worked. These are all very big changes. She loves words and can read, but has never shown any interest in reading a book on her own. On Sunday she picked out books at the bookstore, true they were way beneath her age level, but she wanted them, which was new. Monday night my husband passed her computer room and saw her sitting on her couch reading one of the books. I jumped for joy. Don't know how much she was comprehending, but she was reading all on her own. Never done that before. Her teacher also told me that for the first time last week, my daughter read body language and anticipated what another person's reaction was going to be before it happened. The teacher's exact words were " I was just blown away when she did this. " My daughter has also started finishing her work at school in record time. At the first of the year, they were having to constantly prompt and cue her. Now her teacher is telling me that she is completing her work so quickly that she is going to have to find things to challenge her more and that keep her busy. All I know is that all of this started after we began using the Houston enzymes. We are also working on viral issues now using Purify because my daughter gets periodic cold sores at the corners of her mouth. Oh, we have lots of OCD too. Well I've rambled enough. Adult son starting enzyme therapy My son just started the therapy on Saturday evening. Started with 1/2 dose of peptizde and HN prime zyme. I ordered the NO Fenol also but I'm not sure he needs that although he eats alot of fruit and veggies. He is classically autistic. Has speech and understanding. He is on risperdal and trileptal for aggression. His OCD is thru the roof and the doctor wants to try zoloft again. Which did make him worse years ago. I am not going to try this again. My goal is to get him off the medication all together and hopefully give him a better quality of life. My question today is .. Do I give my son the enzyme every time he snacks also. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the info I read. He is tolerating the 1/2 dose well and has gotten very very happy. Even silly to be honest. He has a doctor's appt tomorrow and I will be telling him what I have started. Im pretty sure I am going to get the POOH POOH from the doctor. I dont know yet if the school is going to allow my son to take the enzymes in school without a doctor's note. My son shows all the classic signs of leaky gut and has for many years. Could never get a doctor to listen to the symptoms. He has better bowel movements since doing secretin about 4 years ago, but they are not daily and they do stink to high heaven. He has a distended stomach. He gets herpes of the eye as well as regular cold sores. Has frequent headaches. Is very sound sensitive even after the Auditory training we did in Montreal many many years ago. We did allergy testing and rotating diet for 4 years also. I presently have him on the list for February for the Pfeiffer Treatment Center also. I will increase his dosage of enzymes in one week. Is the 1 capsule of each at meals enough for his 220 lbs. Thanks for your help.

Guest guest
We actually jumped right in. I started giving her one AFP with meals and snacks and then added Zyme Prime about a week later. We only us the No Phenol occasionally. She had done fine. We do have a little burping sometimes, don't know what that is about. When we started enzymes I also tried Epson Salt in the bath, but she couldn't tolerate much at all. Now I can use about 1/4 to 1/2 cup with no reaction, so I guess something is working on her system.
